“What?!”
The girl in a light pink chiffon dress hang neatly just above her knees exclaimed with her eyes widened in shocked. Of course, she knew she had heard it right but it was almost impossible to be true.
“That’s right,” Yunho let out a small but yet sincere smile plastered on his face. He looked pleased with Ga Jin’s reaction. He thought the girl would most probably disapproved of what was happening right now but it turned out to be quite okay… well, it was really good actually.
“I really can’t believe it! You met him after eight long years?” Ga Jin asked, still in shock. “Man, talk about some serious fate-twisted here!” She continued, beaming all the while when she finally accepted the reality.
Well, she was, if not much, a tad bit happy to hear the news. It was about time now. She heard about this Kim Jaejoong long before she had met this person. She had known about him for almost 3 years now to be exact. Thanks to Yunho that is.
He would always talk about Jaejoong when the two were forced to be alone by their parents and Ga Jin would oblige like an obedient little puppy. She never tries to make Yunho stop talking about this Jaejoong whom she had learned to be a fragile man with heart made of glasses and milky flawless skin complete with soft silky hair. Ga Jin could not even imagine anything else in her mind except that this Kim Jaejoong must be an angel sent from above.
The way Yunho had described him completely amazed her. How could anyone in this world be ever so perfect in the eyes of the already perfect Jung Yunho? How was that even possible? She had thought a lot about it and gave up just a few moments ago when they both left the building. Ga Jin had swiftly passed by the man Yunho claimed to be Kim Jaejoong and my, Ga Jin thought, how beautiful that man appeared to be.
“So, what’s your plan now? Did Ajuhsshi know about this?” Ga Jin suddenly asked, clearing away her thoughts all at once.
Blowing lightly in attempt to cool off his hot chocolate, Yunho lifted his already steamed face. “No… he shouldn’t know about this. He shouldn’t know that the man he tried so hard to keep away from me is the man he had hired to be by my side practically 24/7! No… No one should know. I’m telling this to you because… well, obviously I trust you.”
Ga Jin nodded in agreement. It would be a mess if her soon-to-be father in law finds out about this. Even if she was also not that pleased with what was happening right now, Ga Jin could not bear the thought of a violence argument between the father and the son. No, it would be exactly like when all hell breaks loose.
“Then, what else can you do? I mean, knowing Ajuhsshi, I think our wedding will be like, just around the corner… and this, my friend, is the cue for you to start panicking, Yunho-sshi,” Ga Jin said, throwing a little humor in her sentence.
Though she sounded as if she was totally fine with it, Ga Jin actually felt somewhat disappointed at the sudden appearance of this Kim Jaejoong that Yunho had fallen in love with for all his life, literally. She admitted, at first Yunho was nothing but a close friend to her. The friendship that they shared together meant nothing more that just brotherly and sisterly love.
But as times passed by, her feelings towards Yunho had grown into something deeper and meaningful than what was supposed to be just a friendship. Perhaps, Ga Jin had mistook the care and tenderness in Yunho’s actions towards her to be something worth treasuring to the point that it was okay for them to be engaged or even get married. That was why it pained her when Yunho kept talking about that said Kim Jaejoong but she never tries to argue about it. That was why no one would ever notice the pain she felt inside. Only she herself, Park Ga Jin, will ever understand about it.
“I know… I am,” Yunho finally answered dejectedly. He would never deny it that he was starting to panic a little… well, scratch that out; a LOT to be exact. Yunho knew his father would urged them two to get married already after a long seven months of engagement like he always did. Well of course, at first, his father was so eager to tie the knot after just a month of engagement but Yunho objected. He made up excuses just enough to escape the matter at that time. But now after those long months, Yunho was sure his father would do anything to make the wedding possible and he, sadly, would have no more excuses left to escape it this time.
What am I going to do?
**********
A source of bright light shone directly up above him beamed through the whole space. It was reaching 2:30 a.m. now and Jaejoong was still in the exact same spot he was four hours ago. This time, he was alone. Apparently, the Prince had left with the Princess.
“Jaejoong, I have to leave now. Will you be okay? I feel terrible leaving you alone with my works,” Yunho said, choosing his words carefully in front of his fiancé.
Smiling rather weakly, Jaejoong nodded. “I’ll be fine. I’ll make sure to finish them by tomorrow morning, Mr. Jung.”
Jaejoong plopped his head hard on the desk. There was still another report for him to finish but Jaejoong was already too strained to even try and start the last report. He flexed his tension muscles lazily and moaned a little at the pain it was causing him.
Jaejoong winced. He seemed to have lost his focus now ever since Yunho had left with his fiancé, he willingly admitted to himself. He heard the name quite a lot already actually. Long before Mrs. Jung mentioned it on the phone, Mao-san the Secretary had already spill the beans to him. She told Jaejoong that their beloved boss was already engaged to a girl named Park Ga Jin. She also mentioned that Ms. Ga Jin was the ‘it’ girl and that together with Yunho, they definitely made a perfect combination. Jaejoong did not have the slightest idea of how perfect this Ga Jin could be until today.
She was… beautiful. Well actually, she was more than that. Jaejoong was in awe for a moment when he finally got to focus on her as Ga Jin talked to Yunho not far from his working space. The girl obviously came from a wealthy family as she was dressed in elegant designer’s clothes. The way her hair fell perfectly in place on her shoulder completed her already perfect appearance.
At that moment, Jaejoong could not help but to feel a tad bit jealous of… my, he could not even tell whom he should be jealous of. Was it Ga Jin for practically owning the man he loves… or was it Yunho for having such a perfect girl as his fiancé. No, he could not tell.
Jaejoong straightened his posture on the chair abruptly when he heard footsteps approaching the working space. He looked up, surprised to find Ga Jin standing right in front of him now. Not knowing what to do, Jaejoong immediately stood up to bow in greetings.
“Annyeonghaseyo, Ms. Ga Jin-sshi,” Jaejoong’s voice cracked a little as he blushed upon hearing his own voice just now.
Smiling, the girl replied, “Annyeong, Jaejoong-sshi. I thought I’d find you here… and I did. Yunho-sshi told me you’ll be working late.”
Jaejoong could feel droplets of sweats multiplying rather rapidly on his forehead. Yes, he panicked. For what? Jaejoong just did not know why. But what he was certain of; this meeting would be somewhat a… tragedy.
And yes, he was right about that.
Jaejoong was just about to open his mouth when Ga Jin suddenly pulled out a small bottle from her handbag and began to spray the liquids straight into Jaejoong’s eyes.
Shocked and extremely in pain, Jaejoong collapsed on the floor. He screamed in pain as he finally registered in his brain what was happening. Yes, he had just been sprayed with pepper spray.
What the fuck? Pepper spray?
Jaejoong struggled to stand up but failed as he bumped on to what appeared to be his desk and collapsed back on the floor yet again. As he attempted it once more, he heard Ga Jin’s voice.
“I’m sorry I had to do this, Kim Jaejoong-sshi. I suffered long enough from listening to him talking about you, countless of times! I’ve had enough… I’m tired already, Kim Jaejoong-sshi. He maybe yours eight years ago, but he’s mine now… I love him so much… I love him enough to hurt those who are getting in the way of our relationship… including you,” Ga Jin finished her sentence.
As soon as he heard the last word, Jaejoong felt something being force up to his nose and the smell was just… too awful it made him passed out, completely unconscious.
At this moment, Ga Jin stared at the lifeless body that was now sprawled on the floor. A part of her was terrified to death. She could not believe what she had just done. Never in her life had she done something so wicked as this. She suddenly felt ever so terrible for doing such a horrible thing to the man she claimed to be an angel sent from above just a few hours ago. How could she do this to… an angel?
However, another part of Ga Jin felt like she needed to finish this off. She had suffered for years now and Yunho still did not show any signs at all that he could be in love with her. Every time they went out, the topic was always the same. Kim Jaejoong this, Kim Jaejoong that. It annoyed her so much no matter how hard she tried not to be reflected in her face. Beneath the sweet smiles and countless of nods in agreement, Ga Jin felt so raged and angry. And yes, it had gone a little too far now considering today was her birthday and all Yunho had to say was, Kim Jaejoong.
Ga Jin realized what she needed to do before the effect of chloroform wore off. She walked to Jaejoong’s desk, barely missing the head of that said latter, and began searching for personal belongings of his. When she finally saw Jaejoong’s cell phone, Ga Jin quickly grabbed it in her now sweaty hands.
She clutched it tightly in her hand and quickly grabbed a paperknife from the stationeries storage on the table. Ga Jin prayed under her breath as she brought the knife up to her forehead and carefully cut at the edge of it. She quickly wiped the blood that was now forming little by little off her forehead and began dabbing it at the corner of Jaejoong’s white cell phone. She was practically staining the corner of that white object with her own blood on purpose… a very hideous purpose indeed.
“I’m really sorry Kim Jaejoong-sshi. You shouldn’t show up so sudden in the first place… but now that you’re here, I’ll make him leave you once again. And this time, it would be his own decision.”
TBC.
