so lately i've been reading a lot of Vernor Vinge, a sci-fi author who's known for being pretty accurate in his predictions. the one i'm currently reading is "Rainbows End", which takes place in 2025, and whose characters wear contacts with computer chips that give them heads-up displays in their vision.

then today i read that some people at UW are already working on it.
