Grrrrrr

This is why group projects don't work:

"I dunno dude the code would be hard for me to see what you are doing... I
may just try to do a different version if you can't finish it then. I think
it would take me equally amounts of time to try to figure out your code than
to try to implement it on my own. You know what I mean? :) Hey I am having
trouble with the axioms do you know which 5 should be the constructors?
Thanks!"

Notice the "I'm incredibly lazy, oh can you help do all of my work for this other class too?"...which just adds to the annoyance.

Lets recap:

This is a 3 person extra credit project for this class. It counts as 10% of our grade. That's a full letter grade! Everyone in the class really needs it, since it is a hard class and the exams are pretty harsh. The project should only take a day or two to do. You just have to implement an algorithm from the book. Splitting it up into three parts is silly....but you'd think it would help in making sure it gets done. I tried to group up with people I've studied before, and they already were set up. I figured it was best anyways, since I would probably end up doing everything myself anyways. But then I got nervous, and figured I should try and find a group just to make sure...because I really need the points. Then I was approached by this person, whom I've worked with in the past.

This person...has done enough work to take the information from a file, and put it into a class. He claims it took 3-4 hours. I don't know about that....especially since I had to continually add things to it later on. But on friday we agreed that there wasn't any way to really split the project up into 3 pieces, and that we'd all just try and code it this weekend, and then get together on monday to discuss.

I've spent 14 hours on this project, an ENTIRE sunday, and all of last night (after classes/work). Much to the detriment of my family, health, and other classes. I am trying really hard to get this done so that I can MOVE ON to my other projects and finish this semester.

Sunday night the guy sent me an email saying he had to work all weekend and that he was just getting around to start it. This is funny because last I heard he was laid off from work, that he was offered a different position in the same compnay, and he turned it down so he could take the time to finish his projects at the end of this semester.

I told him then that I was pretty much almost done with the main part, and that if he wanted he could work off of that later on or something. He said he's just start over himself (for whatever reason).

Monday morning he said he started it, but didn't get that far.

And the third person? "Oh I guess I'll do the writeup or something..."

I am so annoyed. I'm tired of being exploited as a hard worker.
I sent the files to the person and told him that he needed to finish it up, and that it shouldn't take him that long, considering I am about 95% done with it, and everything is heavily commented. The response is above...

I've already responded back, telling him that I have other things that need to be done. If they don't get it done by this weekend, I'll finish it myself....and turn it in...with only my name on it. I'm so tired of this. Hopefully they will come around....but I so highly doubt that.
