Well, it's november. There is only a month left of classes, and then finals. I have printed out a calendar with all my due dates and everything. I feel good about it because since I just finished exams in all my classes, it's like I'm kind of off to a fresh start until the end. I'm hoping to stay ahead of everything and space out the big projects so that everything is not so hectic this time.
David still doesn't have a job. The two jobs he applied to that he really, really wanted haven't called him back for an interview. I guess there is still a chance...but regardless he needs to start applying to tons of other places. The money situation is so scary. I'm thankful that he has been figuring most of it out so that I don't have to stress out about it AS much.
We've both been kind of down lately. I am pretty sure its because of the finances and probably some election stuff too. We've done a lot of "comfort eating" lately. And I'm noticing that David's health is going into "bad mode" again. We really need to start pulling out of that. He realizes he needs to start a healthier diet soon. But we have to have money to buy the food for it first :(
We did get my brother's help in paying rent this month. Hopefully something can be worked out so that we all put money towards "the house" every month.
But both David and I felt annoyed that he wasn't helping much. Then my mother called David today and said that she is really concerned because he has been sending really depressing mail to her lately. He is really upset that he isn't able to help out, and that he is probably going to quit school and work full time so that he can get his car paid off. He is really sad that he doesn't have any friends and doesn't like the way things are going. She thinks he may be suicidal.
Which is so ....bad. This sounds selfish...but it puts a lot more worrying on top of what David and I already have to worry about. I was thinking all weekend that I feel pulled in several different directions(academic, partner/husband, friends/social, career goals, personal hobbies/enjoyment) and it's really bringing me down. But now I just can't stop worrying about my brother.
I (and others) really tried to include him whenever we could when he first moved here. But he almost always refused our invitations. David and I still invite him to watch movies and stuff with us (at home), and he just keeps saying that he's already watched whatever we are watching.
The only thing I can remember is that he has been asking to play games together sporaidically over the last month. I've always had to say no, because I've been working on homework. And when I wasn't working on homework, I was finally getting to sit down and play a game "for myself".
But now I'm going to try and involve him again more. Hopefully things will turn around and he will get more involved in actually living and being sort of a family in our apartment, and will help himself develop socially.
In related news. The world of warcraft beta is public. I don't know if he wants to play, but I know he has a great fondness for Blizzard games. Hopefully we can start doing that together as a start.
