When I married Mike, I kind of suspected that any children we might have would be smart, if only because Audrey, Cc and Michael are so brilliant. I'm pretty sure I've referred to them as "frighteningly intelligent" in previous LJ entries ( Read more... )

I wish I'd done something like this when Andrew was little. I shall have to remember to do so with the new one that's on the way. The year between their first and second birthday is so amazing, their little mind develop so quickly!

If/when you start thinking about preschool, she sounds like she'd enjoy a Montesorri program. My son goes to a Montessori school, and it's a great program for those smart little cookies that are too smart for their parents' good. ;)

I agree with your assessment of Morganne... she's BRILLIANT! And good to see an update!

Yay! Smart kids are a challenge but they're also so much fun!

It's wonderful that you're recording her vocabulary. I did the same thing for my kids--kept a journal for each of them. Well, I wrote in Shannon's until she was about 5 and in Sean's until he was about 3.

If you ever have a boy don't be surprised if he's not as advanced at verbal skills. Maybe it's a myth that boys lag behind girls in that area but my kids certainly made the myth seem true. Shannon was a lot like Morganne and Sean couldn't even remember the letters of the alphabet after a year of kindergarten. And now he's way smarter than the rest of us!

Oh yeah, that's a wonderful idea! You'll be surprised just how much you forget later on. You think, when it's happening, that you'll remember forever, but time goes by, and there are a million other things, and it's just gone.

That is so unbelievably cute! When my little brother was that age he refered to everyone by animal names. (It started with my youngest sister, who he called Puppy. Probably because she played with him on all fours.)

Watch out when she gets into school and starts using words the teachers have to look up. ^w^
