vampire jazz

So...right now my life is feeling pretty cool.

A) I have sold a series of 1920s vampire novels starring a social activist who campaigns for vampire rights to the Thomas Dunne imprint at St. Martin's.

B) I met with my editor today (like, a few hours ago) and SHE IS AWESOME. I mean, obviously she had to be cool because she liked my book so much, but still, she's pretty neat. She had great ideas about the book, really grokked what I was going for and seemed very excited about my completely nutty publicity ideas.

C) Like, say, putting together an album of contemporary artists doing songs from the 1920s in that style, most of which are referenced in my novel. And even weirder? The artist I had proposed be the lead singer on the project (because she is awesome and I know her from being her sorta groupie for the last four years) CAME ON THE RADIO AT THE RESTAURANT while we were discussing the project. It was wild.

D) I still totally love this book! I can't wait to write the sequel! And a friend of mine is already onboard to write fanfic ;)

E) I bought a rosemary plant at the union square farmer's market today and it smells lovely. Tonight I'm planning a guerilla planting run in my apartment building's communal garden. I don't know if they wanted a rosemary bush, but they're gonna get one!

And therefore, I'm just really happy. Hello, world!
