Today, I had no class (that I attended, in any case) and the day off work. First day off in quite a while, actually! I thought to myself last night, “You know, Vee, you should sleep in a bit but get up early enough to get some stuff done - so sleep until like, 9 or so, then get up, do a load of laundry, clean the kitchen, and study hard!”; it was a really good plan. It went out the window right about when I unplugged the alarm clock at 9 when it went off, and derailed itself completely when I crawled out of bed at 11, made a cup of coffee, and settled myself in front of my laptop for a solid 4 hours straight of playing WoW - which is great in an of itself, but with Cataclysm just out was even more exciting than usual. Finally, I got out of my pjs and did my hair and makeup around 4, just in time to drag myself out the door and bus myself off to DnD.
This all lead me to realize: nerd life is awesome. I mean, people can ramble about addictive video games and socially awkward people all they like, but as a girl who goes full time to school and works 25 - 30 hours a week at a job which, quite frankly, only encourages my antisocial tendencies, what could possibly be better than a day of complete escapism?
In DnD, I play an Eladrin Psion. After a long few days at work and school, who would not want to just spend a couple of hours (with other people - for all those of you who think nerds are socially inept!) drinking beer, eating pizza, and blowing shit up with their mind? I don’t understand non-nerds. Dancing at the club cannot possibly give that kind of satisfaction! My life is awesome.
