This place has its own culture, its own unspoken social norms. Urban hegemony at its finest, Chicago. Everyone's trapped in their own world, conscious of the people around them only when their personal space gets violated. Then come the glares, the exchange of contemptuous gestures in face and body. With those exceptions, everyone's living their dream.

The air's surprisingly clean... at least around the campus, anyway. The winds coming off lake Michigan bring with them air that's every bit as cold as it is fresh.

I got in touch with the director of the MAPH program today, and tomorrow I meet with some of their people for a Q and A on just how much of my soul I'd have to cut out in order to get my masters in less than a year's time.

I'm quite excited, actually. If trudging through two and a half more semesters at WKU is what it takes to make it here, I think I can live with that.
