wow! you found it in a crime book in the library? do you remember the name of the book at all? i will take my ass straight to the library tomorrow if you remember, lol!
im glad your into Nancy too! so many dont understand her! i also have both copies of the book. i have the new copy(the cover of the new copy, the red and black, is the original in Sweden, in Swedish print, i should find photos i have of it, that Izan sent to me, i will post it later! i find it so amazing that it was printed in swedish and other languages! it usually seems to take years for that to happen!) i dont have a hardcover anymore cause my mom's basement got flooded and it got ruined and so did my drew barrymore bio(which my pal Margo found another copy of for me, but i still dont have another copy of the Nancy hardcover!) but i do have 3 copies of the early ones, the silver ones, and my new copy. i always get doubles of my fav books to share/let friends borrow! not many friends were very intrested in the Nancy book however, only Jodi and Izan and a friend named Randi i met on lj! have you read the book Zelda by Nancy Milford? they mention it in the Nancy book and how she was fasinated w/F.Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald's relationship. personally i didnt catch that, and i read the book about a zillion times since i was 14! but my boyfriend, Brent, when he read the book in 1999, noticed that and went to a booksale and got me books on Zelda & F.Scott and i really got into them and then remembered my grandpa telling me about them when i was a kid! ok, sorry, i am such a nerd! i just LOVE books and reading!
do you have the other book Nancy's mom wrote? it's wicked expensive and i cant afford it! it was like $70 last i checked, cause i think it's like a text book for college, on being a relative of a murder victim. i havent looked it up in like a year, so i'm not quite sure if i am remembering right! also, did you ever see Susan Spungen on the Martha Stewert show? i guess she was on a few years ago, for a pie baking show, Izan(r.i.p.) from Sweden sent the pics she found of Suzy on the show to me & my friend, Jodi! i'm so jealous of a girl i met in 95 when i was working at a vintage clothing store, she was going to college in Philly and Nancy's mom had done a seminar on mental illness for her college! i get so jealous about things like that! i almost exploded w/jealousy, lol! ok, sorry to ramble on! when i get on a subject about Nancy i can really let loose!
and i'm glad that someone notices i'm back! hee!:) ♥

After much searching I did find the name it's a Time Life, True Crime Library Book called Death and Celebrity. I think her part in the book is called "Knives and pistols." It has several celebrity murder stories in it. I found three really cheap copies of it on ebay. I searched amazon.com too and found a used copy of D. Spungen's textbook for about $30. I haven't read the Nancy Milford book yet but I do have a book about Zelda & F. Scott that's all about the letters they wrote to each other. I have been lucky enough to catch Susan on a show with Martha they were decorating cakes. I was flippin around and found it, I yelled for Brian to come watch it even though he thinks I'm crazy. It was awesome. I've never known anyone who has met any of her family but I did get to visit her grave when I was coming back from RI on a Greyhound. From down town Philadelphia (the bus stop and Mutter Museum) to King David Cemetery was about a $70 dollar cab ride but damn it was worth it. I took pictures but I have only developed one of the cameras from the trip and one of them is missing of the four that were left and I have a sinking feeling that was the one that is gone. I have two silver copies and one new red American one (it's wicked that you have one from Sweden!) I read that book over and over. Brian is always asking why I re-read it when I've read it so many times I just never get tired of her story because in small ways I can relate. Anyway, yeah , like you said I really start to ramble when anyone brings up Nancy or Sid. My family and bf and friends here just don't get it. J

Yeah I would love to hear the story and see your pictures. It was raining when I went but not flooded. There was some water standing in the cemetary and I'm sure you know what it's like to walk around in wet converse. It took me forever to find it and it was getting late so I was getting really sad but I thought alright I'm only gonna go down one last row and if I don't see it I have to leave...and she was there. After I stood and took some pictures and all of that I walked across the street and used the phone book in a Sunoco station to call a cab. I waited there and the girl working the register let me sit and watch Oprah with her. I must have looked weird to her (Leather jacket, RAMONES shirt, wandering around a cemetary in the rain)she asked where I was from, I told her and what not then she asked what I was doing in the cemetary, I don't know why I said it but I just said I was visiting some family. I guess I didn't want to explain the whole story to her, she didn't seem like she wouldn't have the slightest clue who I was talking about anyway. Then onthe cab ride back to the bus station the nasty driver hit ob me the whole way. That was an awesome trip. I stopped in NYC too, around 2 in the morning before I stopped in PA. It's one of those stories I can't wait to tell my son. J

we didnt even get to her grave, as soon as we got to the cemetary lighting started to strike and it was pouring and we were running around trying to find the grave, it was me, my boyfriend and 2 other friends. they all helped me look, but the rain got so bad! when we left that's when we got stuck in the flood, right after leaving the cemetary! we almost got washed off a bridge, it's hard to explain, im gonna draw a picture so i can show you! i have photos of us in the flood, but after we parked the car on hill. my boyfriend and friend, fred, actually went swimming in a road filled w/water w/some local people, i have funny photos of that! but it wasnt funny when we almost got washed over the bridge, the water was up to the windows of brent's buick and it stalled~his old car was famous for stalling and not restarting but luckily this time we did! there was a huge hill at the intersection we were at, and the water kept rushing down the road and hitting into the side of our car and pushing us towards the edge of the bridge, there was water all in the bottom of the car, it was scary! esp when the water got up to the windows, but luckily we got the car started! i'll explain more in an email and i gotta scan in the pics to show you too! it was the 2nd time i had to get my camera repaired for water damage, lol! the 1st time was when i fell into a boat drunk, at my friends camp, and there was water in the bottom of the boat and of course being a klutz like i am, i dropped my camera right in it! i dunno what i would have done if i didnt get insurance on my camera, lol! is yr email addy at yr userinfo page? if not could you let me know what yr email addy is. i'm gonna get the pics together this weekend to show you! oh, i really enjoyed reading about yr story of going there! we both have fun stories to tell our sons someday!:) ♥
ps-i ordered that timelife crime book last night!:)

That sounds so scary! Damn good thing the car started. My e-mail address should be in the info but if not then here: rocklovegrrl@cbgb.net. I love sharing stories with people. One of my other favorite was the time I was in NYC and I walked into CBGB's (the door was open and I just went in) during the day time and Hilly Krystal was on the phone at a desk and he got pissed at me and my friends because they were closed. I got a picture of a Joey Ramone 50TH birthday party poster on the wall but I had no flash so it didn't come out. I asked him if we could take some pics with us but he nenver came out so we just left but I have pics of CBGB's and the Chelsea if you want to see them, since you're sharing some pics with me. Glad you got that book. J
