Comic Reviews

RASL #8 - Rasl meets God. Sweet! I definitely need to reread the series, though. It comes out so slowly.

The Amazing Spider-Man #639 - Part 2 of OMIT isn't as bad as the first part. It explains how the events of the past ASM stories played out in exactly the same way without Peter and MJ getting married, and I still like that they're having that talk, but I still don't really care about bridging the events between BND and now. It just doesn't really matter to anything.

The Boys #45 - I had high hopes after last issue's big reveal, but the characters just hung around reeling from the news. Hopefully more stuff happens next issue.

Deadpool #1000 - *Yawn*

Electric Ant #5 - A decent ending to the story, but I don't get how the main character's perception of reality can manifest itself physically. It's sort of explained that it's not real, except that it ends up being real.

glamourpuss #14 - Sim gets to an interesting part in the story of some early comic writers, then veers off into some riffing on Facebook. For once, I was more interested in the history lesson than the parody. Too bad.

I, Zombie #4 - The reason behind all the paranormal activity in the world is given, but the rest of the plot moved along kinda slowly.

The Stand: Hardcases #3 - I'm still loving the focus on the baddies, plus a bit of rebuilding civilization thrown into the mix.

Super Stupor #3 - RK Milholland's superhero parody is supposed to be funny ("humor" even being written on the cover), but this issue focuses on the lost feeling characters from erased parallel worlds (like those lost during Crisis on Infinite Earths) experience and not a lot of other funny stuff happens. Kinda sweet, though.

Realm of Kings HC - This was alright. I liked it better than War of Kings, that's for sure. There's a bit of a cool alternate universe based on worshiping the dark gods instead of science. There's some political intrigue with the Inhumans and the Shi'ar. The only thing I didn't like much was the last part with the son of Hulk and the microverse. I have little to no knowledge of those places and characters, so I couldn't follow what was going on (or even why it matters). I did dig the new artists they've brought on board, which are a nice change of pace from the regular superhero guys who draw everything overly flashy.

Hellboy: The Wild Hunt TPB vol. 09 - This is an awesome volume. Hellboy learns some interesting things about himself, which sets up a huge story (bigger than even the frogs taking over in BPRD). I'm really excited where this is going, but it'll take a while before it gets there.

Dark Wolverine 88 and Franken-Castle 19 - Franken-Castle is pissed and is taking it out on Daken. I'm lovin' this cross over. Tons of action and violence. I especially like the Franken-Castle issue with Remender writing and Tony Moore's art, which ends on an unexpected cliffhanger.

Fantastic Four 581 - This picks up on some of the time travel stuff from earlier on where future Val and future Franklin visit the present. There's also a flashback to the past with a young Reed meeting his time traveling dad. Cool stuff, but I don't get the point of what's going on too much at the moment. Maybe it'll be more clear in the future.
