Furniture and Food

So after church I stopped at Target. Mainly, I needed a box fan to push the A/C'ed air out of the bedroom and into the rest of the apartment. While over there, I picked up the side table that I've been eying (it was on sale today) and a table lamp.

The table is going to be my computer storage area. I've got my laptop accessories, black CDs, external hard drives, etc stored in there right now. I'm not sure how much I like the lamp. It fits better than I initially thought it would, but I think I'll stop by Wal-Mart tomorrow and see if they have something better.

The main reason I got the table (other than the storage) is so I could put my tall lamp in the other corner so I can actually get some light in the apartment from flipping the switch by the door. Nowadays, I stumble around in the dark until I can find another light to turn on.

When I got home, I made some food that I usually don't bother with. I tried baking bread for the first time ever and made a pasta dish with beans and spinach.

The Ciabatta bread turned out really good, but I think I let it rise for too long and it came out flatter and wider than expected. I'd post the recipe here, but Lifehack has a better write-up than I could ever do:

The recipe for the pasta dish I got from my coworker Pete a few years ago. It's fairly easy to make.

8 oz pasta
1/4 olive oil
1/2 cup onion
2 glove garlic
1/4 tsp red pepper
1 pkg spinach
15 oz. black beans (drained and rinsed)
1/4 cup vegetable bullion
1 cup Parmesan

While cooking the pasta, saute the onion in the oil with the garlic and red pepper. Once the onion's soft, throw in the spinach. Once the spinach cooks, mix in the beans and the vegetable bullion and let it all cook together for a bit. Mix with pasta and eat.

Later on I'm planning on grilling some brats I bought from Pottstown Deli. They make their own brats and usually mix in other things for flavor. I've had their mushroom (awesome) and Cajun (good with a bit of a kick). This time I got some beer brats and some Caribbean jerk.
