Catching Up
I haven't made a "serious" post on here in a while. A lot of stuff to catch up on.
About a month ago, we got some pretty shitty news at work. We lost some contracts and there have been cutbacks. I got a couple unpaid days off and people are generally stressed. Great news before the holidays!
A week after that was Christmas. As usual, my mom had Christmas Eve. We had less people than usual. My godfather was off in Vegas and Anita, Diego, and Diego's cousin were in Columbia. It actually worked out well as my mom (for once) didn't overcook.
I got some cool gifts (mostly off my Amazon Wish List, so I got what I wanted!). My favorite is a book version of La Jetée.
The movie is a series of still images with a voice over. This book reprints the stills and writes out what the narrator says. It's really nice as every version of the film I've seen is a little washed out. This lets you really sink your teeth in.
Since my godfather was in Vegas, he didn't host Christmas for the first time in over 30 years. My mom took that up, too. This time, she did overcook: we had a roast, pork, chicken, and fish. My sister's boyfriend's parents showed up and everyone helped cook. It was really good.
Over the course of those two days, I must have played Bon Jovi's Livin' on a Prayer about two dozen times on Guitar Hero with my cousins. I never want to hear that song again.
I came back to work for a couple of days, then headed back to Franklin Park for New Years. I went by Jake's place on the South Side and sat around drinking beer and listening to music. It was nice. My parents went out for the first time in years and I think they may have actually had a good time(!).
On Thursday, I picked up a copy of Little Nemo that I'm stoked for.
Frank also lent me a bunch of volumes of Death Note. That, plus what I'm still reading from Dan and a couple of things from Miah, has made me "To Read" pile daunting.
I'm trying to whittle it down a bit this weekend.
I hadn't seen Sarah most of my break, which I'm still pissed about, but on Saturday she gave me a 3 am booty call. Meaning I got no sleep before driving to Peoria the next day and could barely make it through work. At least I'm less mad at her than before.
This week's been me catching up on sleep. I think I'm getting sick as I've been sleeping much more than usual.
Right now I'm listening to White Lion and thinking about lunch.
