My Weekend So Far

Jul 19, 2008 11:59

Friday I stayed up all morning to watch The Dark Knight with Miah and Ed, who I was actually surprised to see. Pretty good, but I was getting tired by the end and all the talking wore me out a bit. I came home and slept.

Later on my mom called me saying some guy named Juan was looking for me. This was a friend of a friend I hadn't seen since High School. I guess a mutual friend, Dan, passed away last week and Juan was calling everyone he could to let them know. I hadn't seen Dan in 9 years and hadn't had any contact in 7, so I'm not really upset or anything, but he was a good guy.

So, I called Juan back today and we had a mini-reunion (ie, awkward catch up). Guess Dan had an infection in his brain and died on the operating table while they were trying to get the fluids out. Rough way to go. There's a wake tomorrow, but I'm not gonna go. I mean, I've lived a third of my life since I've last seen him, so I don't really have any pressing need to be there.

I got up early to work on my bike (adjust the chain slack and do some general lubrication), but it was raining all morning. I got out there around 10 when it dried up a little. I'm glad I have good tools as they made my life way easier. My bike's a little messed up as I had to take off the mufflers to get to the axle bolts (well, I would have only had to take one side off if I had a 19 mm wrench). All in all, the chain adjustment was a snap.

I also started lubing my cables, but I stripped a screw (dumbass), and I couldn't get at the throttle cables. I also skipped cleaning my chain as the sun came out and the humidity got to me. I'll do that tomorrow or Monday if the rain stays away. I say this every time I need to do some work, but I really wish to have a garage where I can do this crap in.

I took a bunch of reference pictures, but only one is of any interest.

I was actually thinking about running the bike like this to see how loud it'd be, but I don't want my neighbors to hate me.

I've got nothing else on my to-do list for the day, so I think I'm going to grill some chicken (excited for the Baja Chipotle marinade), watch Deathproof, and do a backup of my computer data (exciting!).

Also, I want a moped.
