The NYC..

As a graduation present from my aunt and uncle, I was given a trip to Jersey City/New York to visit my cousin Caitlin. I have just returned and had an excellent time.

Day 1- I make it safely to Jersey City, NJ, which I was concerned about when I said yes to the taxi offer I got, and then once I was in the car, I realized that the car was neither yellow, nor did it have a big taxi sign above it.

Queens- beer garden, as I go talk to boys playing beer pong, my cousin and her boyfriend discuss what the rules are about allowing me to go home with someone, I return to the table, so it becomes a non-issue.

Day 2- Brooklyn- Coney Island. We survive the Cyclone, it was a scary endeavor, Caitlin is still traumatized. We have "the best" pizza in America, I think it might be the best pizza on the block. We have the kind of service that I had hoped I would get while in the city. Our waitress came up to us felt it necessary to pass out paper cups/plates to us, all while stand at the end of our table talking on the phone, once she's finally done, no apology, just a request for our drink order, and a death glare/eye roll, when Caitlin and I say our drinks at the same time, and she has to ask the question again. Amazing doesn't even begin to cover it.

Manhattan (Day 2 cont.)- Caitlin and I eat at Vinyl. A restraunt that has themed bathrooms, one being Dolly Parton...awesome?...I think so. Then we go see Mary Poppins on Broadway. Her magic carpet bag remains magic, it was on a table that you could see under and she was still pulling out plants and shit. My mind was boggled. Bert walks up the wall and tap dances on the ceiling. Mary Poppins flys out over the audience and up toward the balcony.

We decide to hop on a petty cab after the show, and we get wheeled around the city on the nifty bike with the best driver ever. He just kept shouting 'yo, yo, comin' through' and would pretty much force his way through whether or not cars wanted to him. Somewhat terrifying, but a lot of fun.

Day 3- Caitlin, Eric, and I go see Spring Awakening on Broadway, still not sure how I feel about the story. I had some issues with the plot and character development, but the music is amazing and I've been listening to the cd non-stop since I opened it. We met up with Jeff and Lindsy Serrano in China town and had a delicious meal. Then Lindsy left us and the four of us still hanging out began walking across the Brooklyn bridge.

Day 4- Because 2 Broadway shows just weren't enough, Jeff and I decide to go see Avenue Q, which was just as hilarious as I anticipated.  We then spend the rest of the afternoon walking around the city.  We went to Central Park and Rockefeller Center.  Later, Eric, Caitlin, and I tried to go to Witchcraft which is Tom Collichio's (of Top Chef fame) sandwich place, but it was closed so we had some delicious Italian. We tried to find the bowling alley in a scary part of the city, but it didn't work out and we went home.

Day 5- Return to Indiana with a great love for NYC.

OHHHHHH, and as if it all weren't enough, somehow, I don't recall how, it was discovered that my cousin Caitlin and her boyfriend Eric had class with Jeni and Thade once, and remember who they are, so that was a fun discovery to make.
