A good day yesterday - hung out with
teratologist at
ISE Cultural Foundation to check out the
Neo-Grotesque exhibit before it closed. Highlights were pieces by
Caitlin Hackett,
Carrie Ann Baade and delightful works in bone by
Julie Anne Mann. The exhibition as a whole expressed some powerful ideas about the horror of being a young woman in today's world, tension and discontent within one's body, and mutation due to environmental pitfalls.
We then walked east through the snow and had a celebrity sighting - Bobby Gillespie of
Primal Scream. He was with his family taking pictures of the
Deitch Wall on Houston St. He looked healthy. The afternoon was rounded off nicely with dinner at
Polonia and a couple of beers at
Bar on A.
Off to a house party later tonight - have a safe & happy New Year's Eve, and see you in 2011!
