I think this also bring up the sexism thing you brought up earlier.
I am hoping things get better for you since I have been going through similar things for some time. My job situation has made me have some strong self-confidence issues. If you need to chat with someone who is going through similar things I will always lend an ear. I just wish I had friends at times near me to talk to.
The latest chapter though I have a hard time taking it at face value. I can't help but think there is something more to it since Hiyori couldn't be that impulsive now. One possibility could be an illusion or even the idea that Hiyori's shikai could be a damage reversal. That is where any damage she takes at a particular time is reversed and put on the one who did that to her. That would mean she winds up ok but Gin ends up cut in two.
Preferably both, but I don't think I can get the second one, so the first would be enough.
Secondly, for him to get his head out of his ass and start writing a decent story again. None of the fights as of late have impressed me at all. It just seems like a bunch of contrived bullshit--which some can argue that shounen always is---but I enjoyed Bleach for a while for being innovative.
Now, it seems like Kubo's pulling ideas out of the toilet and slapping them onto the page and saying "Print this. I don't care how much it stinks."
It would be great to get some backstory on her. I liked also about her was how she got along with her fraccion. You can't really count her out being dead with Orihime around as well as the possibility of illusions. I can see Orihime wanting to bring her back hating the idea of someone being offed by someone above them.
I agree with your idea that there needs to be some plot going on here and not a bunch of disconnected fights with no background.
I was wondering from your post, what is it that you associate Neko with Hiyori? I can see for some reason you two with Rukia and Orihime respecitvely. Be thankful to have a dear friend with you.

Kubo needs to lay off whatever the hell he's on. The series is going to hell in a handbasket.

Or her surviving Aizen's bullshit.
