Mouser wrote an entry on his blog about how Mouser week got started, and why a gathering of urban explorers is called "Mouser Week" in the first place. It's certainly a more interesting story than why OPEX got called OPEX ( Read more... )

It's cool to have a gathering of explorers, but OPEX is too much in my opinion. I see Mouser Week as more of a gathering of friends who explore, not explorers in general. UER need not apply.

The vast majority of it is friends doing stuff, and that's where all the important new stuff (like the Lab or Alpha) comes from. But it's also good to have a reason and a specific time for people from out of state to come up and give it a try, and for total newbs to come meet people and see if it's worth doing.

Yes, Mouser Week, the roughly annual nine-day get-together with fifty of your closest friends to get dirty, break a few laws, and create memories that will last even after the bruises have faded. Good times, good times...
