"
I'm Diziara, this is Noelle," she introduced. "We're headed to a party that's apparently intended as a surprise celebration for my promotion," Diziara tossed a forced grin towards Noelle as she explained that part. "Would you like to join us?"
"Um... Sure" the Andorian woman replied. "I'm Imaru Asheven by the way, just came aboard to join the

Svetlana drifted through the party after talking with Alex for a few minutes. She seemed the tough sort but then medics usually were. They were also universally entertained by Svetlana’s story about, “the time at the Turosh tannery when the man, I am forgetting his name, got his hand caught in the de-fleshing machine.”
Alex had asked, “What is a de-fleshing machine?”
“Much like what you would think. Many sharp knives spinning very fast. It removes fat and muscle and other tissues from the animal hides. They did find most of his fingers in the end, but they had to re-grow the ones they couldn’t reattach.”
“Wow.” The other woman had said. Then she frowned, “What were you doing in a tannery?”
Svetlana had hesitated and, glancing into her drink and said, “Do you know I don’t remember. We were researching natural adhesive compounds I think.”
They had drifted apart after that, Alex to apparently scare some ensigns and Svetlana to briefly join a discussion of possible modifications to the impulse engines. Before too long though ( ... )

"Diziara," she returned. "And this is my new friend Imaru," Diziara introduced, indicating the Andorian woman next to her. "I couldn't help but overhear your displeasure at the youth of the offered refreshments. We'll give Spiegel shit about this, half of what's being served seems to have come from his collection."

"Hello" Imaru replied, waving at the newcomer that Diziara had just introduced her too. "You're new here too? I've just been assigned to the Takeda Shingen as well" she greeted Svetlana warmly.

A server in a crisp uniform walked up to Imaru, with a fizzy drink on a tray. "Those two men bought you a drink," the server said. She motioned to Sharad and Therav, whose names at the moment Imaru wouldn't know.
Noelle walked up toward Diziara's group, and stood among them, quietly.
Therav and Sharad weren't dancing, but were standing in a corner talking about something. Not a few moments later, the chan said ( ... )

Diziara chuckled softly, watching Sharad getting shot down. "Gotta nip stuff like that in the bud early," Diziara observed with a slight smirk. "I made the mistake of not doing that once, last I checked Jack still holds out hope." Diziara offered her glass up for a toast. "Here's to lost causes."

She shook her head a little, watching the interaction between the Andorians.
"Speaking of nipping in the bud," she said. She watched Therav's stern reproach of Sharad. "I don't know if that's a nipping, or the start of something beautiful."
She laughed just a little. She met Imaru's eyes for a moment, and smiled. A slightly twisted thought crossed her mind, since she knew Spiegel had enjoyed his brief dalliance with a certain shen, and since Spiegel happened to be an engineer. She kept the thought to herself, but there are probably individuals who would know just what had crossed her mind.
She shook her head again.
"Imaru, it's only fair that you meet the rest of the department," she said. "I believe Indra should be along shortly. It's Tov's shift. Diz, where's that certain spiky haired sidekick?"

"You know, I'm surprised that Spiegel hasn't found me yet," Diziara mused, and handed her glass back to the bartender for a refill. "I think he might take offense to being called the sidekick."

Noelle shook her head. "Why didn't I remember that alcohol goes straight to my head? I'm going to go find Lucas, some introductions are in order."
She went off in search of him. "How are you holding up? I promise I didn't drink too much to be a good dance partner," then a little laugh, "And I DO trust you'll be up for that."
Assuming he was willing, she brought him over to where Diz and Imaru were standing.

Letting her eyes wonder about the compartment her gaze eventually fell onto the pair of male Andorian's that one of at least, she knew was going to be an issue down the road. She frowned and took note to keep her hydro spanner or sonic screwdriver handy with her when she was moving about the ship.
"Eh, maybe I'll have some cranberry juice and chips?" she spoke up, offering a weak smile to the bartender. "Something non alcoholic at least"

"Non-alcoholic?!" Diziara was absolutely amazed and the whole party could hear it. The holodeck fell silent for a moment, but when it was clear this was not a challenge to fight, everyone was quick to ignore that anything happened. Though, there was movement from out of two clusters of people as a result of this outburst, but Diziara didn't pay any mind. She leaned closer to Imaru. "This is a party, alcohol always makes it more interesting. If nothing else, a fight will break out and those always-" Diziara paused a moment before correcting herself, "-those usually turn out to be fun enough."
As she said this, Spiegel worked his way into the knot of people who surrounded Diziara and Imaru. "Took you long enough to get to your own party," was the first thing he said. He then noticed the new face, and immediately shoved his arm elbow deep into his cargo pockets. "Jelly Baby?" he offered as he produced a little white wax paper bag from his pocket.
"Since when have you had those?" Diziara squealed, and plucked a dark colored one from the ( ... )

"Spiegel," was the answer the spiky-haired engineer gave. "Fourth Doctor's your favorite?" He gave a half nod towards the sonic screwdriver poking out of her pocket. Diziara looked puzzled a moment, then followed Spiegel's nod and make a small "O" with her mouth.
"Why does everyone but me have a sonic screwdriver?" Diziara muttered just as she looked around to find the crowd parting to allow Johnson through. "You'd think he wouldn't be so enthusiastic to get within combat range, after I handed him his ass on Andor," Diziara muttered, but forced a smile across her face when she met the Admiral's gaze.
"Aren't you the one who thinks all Brass are made to be punching bags?" Spiegel hissed back at Diziara, but not as quietly as he should have, as this provoked a chuckle out of Johnson.
"She seemed to hold Admiral Khazara in high enough regard," was the Admiral's reply.

"Served on Remmington for a year," Diziara answered, happy to latch onto anything that took her attention away from Johnson. Her salvation was cut short, as Johnson jumped back into the conversation.
"Probably her best year in the fleet, until she bailed on it by transferring to the Terra Nova to get out of the Delta Quadrant," Johnson helpfully explained. Diziara flagged down the bartender to get a tall glass of something with a high proof.
