Holy Crap....Well the last 2 nights here totally redeemed the Australia reputation.
The day before yesterday we decided to say screw it, and rented 2 cars and cruised on down to Gold Coast, Surfers Paradise. Surfers Paradise was AMAZING! The beach was awesome, the waves were even better, and even though it is Fall here, the water is warmer than it is in California. After its gets dark there, everyone vacates the beach and heads to the streets. We ended up staying out till about 4 a.m. just rotating between clubs one of which was a "Howl At The Moon". For those of you that have never seen one of those back in the states, it is a Dueling Piano bar where they have 2 pianos and a drum set and they go at it all night. It was a blast. But well walking down the street around midnight, some guy almost ran over us on his bicycle. Joe says "wow, and that guy almost ran us over". He didn't yell at the guy or say aything mean, that was all he said. Well this guy turns around on his bike and comes back to us, almost rus over us again-stops his bike and says "one of you guys got something to say to me". Not wanting to end our night early, we kind of looked at him and laughed (he was about my height but 20 pounds lighter)and said No.
--Enter McKaylah--
McKaylah was......well, I can't really describe her. But her, and as we would soon find out, her father were standing next to us waiting to cross the street when this turd ran his mouth. Well as the guys rides off, all of a sudden McKaylahs dad is holding her back as she is trying to run him down and beat his ass. All we could do was sit there with our mouths open as this fireball was trying to run this guy down and end his life. When she calmed down we told her that was one of the greatest things we had ever seen and since they were headed to the same club as us we were going to buy them their first roud of drinks. Well as conversation deepened, we find out that she is actually a K1 fighter!!! We couldn't beleive it. And then we all had to hold her back in the club when some 25 year guy started swearing at her dad.
That day was fun, but yesterday was sooooo much better. We had so much fun there that we decided to keep the car (there were only 3 of us now) and head back down to Surfers Paradise. As we set our stuff down on the beach we couldn’t help but notice this beautiful red swimsuit laying pretty close to us on the beach. But of course since the 3 of us were all pretty shy, none of us said anything and we just sat there like a bunch of idiots. Well right before we were getting ready to leave, we noticed that she kept looking over at us. So after me and Joe discuss it, we decide it would be rude without at least saying hi. So he grabs his camera and we decide that asking her to take a picture of us will be our excuse to talk to her.
--Enter Elizabeth-
She sees us coming and her lights up all big and she was all excited about taking our picture. By her accent it was obvious that she wasn’t from Australia and she was actually from Austria. But she spoke very good English and has been to the US and loves it. And when I told her I was from Texas she was all excited and says “where at in Texas are you from” (at this point I get excited because when someone asks that it means that she has been there) Well not only does she absolutely love Texas but one of her best friends lives there right now working for some Austin music company. After talking for a couple minutes she invites us to one of her friends party at there penthouse on the beach but due to the fact that we had to back at the ship by midnight we very sadly had to turn down our offer.
Well later on while roaming the streets, we run into her again, and she is almost begging us to come to the party. We almost started crying when we had to tell her no again. But we did get pictures with her and her email address because she comes to San Diego quite a bit. And it wasn’t like she was some dumb blonde either. She was about 25, she was finishing her degree in Australia while working at the embassy there and she was brilliant.
But anyways, now we are back on this crappy boat and headed for Hawaii. More good times to be had by all.
Sorry this was long, but really was the condensed version.
Many pictures to come very soon.
Oh yeah, and Meter Maids are one of the greatest inventions on earth.
