Part Two “Where did you hear that from?” Dean asked him, holding the boy with both hands.
Ben shook his head stubbornly “No way…you tell me first.”
Dean gave the boy a glare “This isn’t funny Ben…tell me.”
Ben crossed his little arms across his chest “I’m not joking Dean.” he gave Dean back his own glare “Tell me.”
Dean looked at Sam, who looked back at him with a shrug that said ‘What can we do?’ After a long few seconds Dean nodded slightly and Sam began talking “Lamia’s in mythology were creatures that stole children.” he said reciting from memory “But in actuality Lamia started out as a person.”
Dean settled Ben in as Sam explained “She was the queen of Lybia who was cursed, she became half woman, half snake…and she stole children.”
“Why?” Ben asked his eyes wide as he listened to the story.
“She ate them.” Dean said answering, Ben spun around and looked at his dad to see if he was joking, and then saw the seriousness in his eyes and shivered.
“In mythology she was the daughter of two gods, she was beautiful beyond reproach. Zeus came to love her and Hera, his wife, became jealous. She stole her children away from her and cursed her to become a monster, in her grief she began to steal other’s children, invoking the same sorrow she felt in her heart upon the world. She was reported to have been given two ‘gifts’ from Zeus, one was the power of prophecy.”
Ben looked back at Dean who explained “She can see the future.” Ben nodded and looked back at Sam.
“And she could remove her eyes…and could see through them wherever they were, allowing her to learn a great many secrets.” Sam stopped as Ben stiffened and paled, whatever was going on, the boy was now clearly terrified.
“Like a snake eye?” the boy asked in a hesitant voice.
Dean turned him around “Just like that…ok your turn Ben…how did you find out…”
“So who’s hungry?” Lisa asked coming into the kitchen. The three of them looked at her in surprise. She stood there for a moment and then asked “You three look like you just got busted in the cookie jar, what’s up?”
Dean smiled quickly “Girl trouble” he said nodding towards Ben. She nodded and smiled as he said “Come on Ben…let’s go talk outside.”
Ben nodded as Dean got up and offered his hand. Ben took it and followed him outside. Lisa looked over at Sam “Am I missing something?”
Sam smiled and shook his head “No…just guy talk.”
Lisa started to pull pans out of the cupboard “Well good, lord knows some things you can only tell a guy.”
Sam sighed as he closed the laptop…seemed they had more pressing matters to deal with.

She went to the abandoned building at the edge of town and parked.
It was just approaching twilight and the shadows around the area were growing with each passing minute. She sat in her SUV and tried to summon up the courage to walk into the shadows. This boy was the one, the one that could end it all. One way or another, Ben was the key to what happened next. She had to trust that Lamia was more concerned about handing the boy over to her allies than seeing any other future than that one.
If the queen had indication of what she was trying…
She felt the pull on her mind, the summons she could not resist. She left the car and walked into the darkness without a pause. She had no choice when it came to obeying; all she could do was go along with the ride.
For now.

“Ok kid, start talking.” Dean said a bit gruffer than he intended.
Ben looked up at him “My teacher said you could help her.”
“Me?” Dean asked “How did she even know who I was?”
Ben shrugged “She just told me last week to ask my mom about my dad, she said you could help us.”
“Us?” Dean asked.
Ben beamed at him proudly “She’s my girl.”
Dean’s mouth hung half open as he bit the automatic response that came to his mind. Taking a deep breath he said “Did she say that?”
Ben smiled at him and patted his hand patronizingly “Dean…girls don’t have to tell you everything sometimes.” he waggled his eyebrows “Sometimes you can just tell.”
Dean tried not to growl “So she’s the reason you started asking your mom about me?” Ben nodded. “She told you I was a hunter?” Another nod. “And did she tell you what that meant?”
Ben’s face twisted into a slight grimace “Well..she said you were like a super hero and fought monsters.”
Dean couldn’t argue with that definition.
“You will help her Dean, right?” the boy pleaded “I know you wouldn’t let the monster kill her.”
Dean looked down and saw the depths of his son’s despair in his eyes and found himself unable to do anything else but nod and smile. “Of course” he said with no faith in his voice at all “That’s what I do.”
“I knew it!” Ben said hugging Dean’s legs “I knew my dad was the best.”
Dean patted the top of Ben’s head as he wondered what he had just promised himself to doing.

She was on her knees in the dirt; she was trying to silently hold back sobs as burning pain rolled through her system. She failed as she screamed again, the pain becoming too much. Lamia watched her servant wither in agony while the demon in man form seemed amused. Azazel looked over to the snake woman and said “She is a screamer isn’t she?”
“Very much so.” she said as her venom spread through the human’s body. It would cause her blood to feel like molten lava as it coursed through her veins, her organs would begin to seize up as the body slowly began to shut itself down. In that same sultry voice Lamia said “Did you think your betrayal would go unnoticed? Did you think you could somehow trick me?” The human servant only screamed again, her body in far too much pain to form words at this point.
“So she has summoned the father here?” Azazel asked as he watched the human twitch slowly into death.
“Yes, but should prove no problem, the boy…” Lamia tried to explain, her voice almost pleading.
He raised a hand as the teacher’s corpse grew still “It is ok.” he looked at her smiling “Honestly, I’m not upset.” he snapped his fingers and a trail of smoke came hurtling from behind him into the cooling body in the ground.
It jumped and jerked for a moment, shaking back and forth as if having an attack of some kind. Then suddenly it fell inertly to the ground as her eyes opened up. She blinked twice and looked to Azazel, who offered his hand to help her up.
She took it and gingerly stood “Thank you father.” she smiled as she smoothed out her blouse “This fits perfectly.”
He laughed “You wear it well.” he looked over the half reptile “You see…the Winchester’s will be dealt with.” he leaned in “All of them.”

The diner was…strained.
The four of them ate in silence, Lisa being the only one not in on the reason. She had tried innocent opening gambits like “How was school?” and “So how did you guys pass the afternoon?” But after the third one word answer she gave up, wondering what all the sulking was for. After dinner, as Dean helped her picked up the dishes, she asked “Did you and Ben get into a fight?”
He looked over at her, almost dropping the plate “What? Did he say that?”
She looked at him oddly “No…I was just asking.” She put the glass down she was drying “Why? What happened?”
Dean sighed and he said “He has a crush on his teacher.” he said, opting that a half truth was better than an outright lie.
“Ms. Laimos?” she said smiling “Well that isn’t surprising, he takes after his father.”
Dean actually blushed a little “I think he might be out of his league on this one.” he said putting the plate away “You mind if I drop him off and talk to her in the morning?”
She paused “You want to go down to his school and meet with his teacher?”
“Yeah why?” he asked cocking his head.
She tossed her towel onto the counter and rushed at him, kissing him passionately. He was surprised but returned it nonetheless. When they came up for breath he asked “What did I say?”
She just shook her head “Never mind…let’s just say you hit the jackpot tonight.”
He smirked back “Well where do I cash out?”

The next morning Dean and Ben pulled up in front of the school.
“You sure you ok with this?” Dean asked Ben.
“Why wouldn’t I be?” Ben asked in confusion.
“Well I don’t want to just walk in like…” he saw the boy wasn’t understanding the complexity of their situation one bit. In Ben’s mind, Dean was his dad, and his dad belonged. Dean stopped and smiled “”Doesn’t matter” he said ruffling his hair.
“Hey!’ Ben cried out as he slapped Dean’s hand away “Takes time to get this right!” He reached up and pulled down the visor so he could look at his hair in the mirror. Dean chuckled and shook his head.
“You like fine Romeo” Dean called as he walked around the car and opened Ben’s side “Take me to your teacher.”
Ben gave up and flipped the visor up and scowled “If you jacked my hair I’m gonna be peeved.” and lead Dean inside the school.
“I am duly warned.” Dean said as solemnly as possible.
The hunter noticed the stares he was getting from the women working in the office. He grinned as he signed for a visitor’s pass, a lot of the dad’s they got coming through here don’t look anywhere this good. He winked at the secretary as he followed Ben to his class. The boy said “Man they were checking you out.” which caused Dean to cough in surprise “I never get that kind of play from them.” he mused “They must like older guys.” Dean shook in silent laughter as Ben walked into a classroom.
“Ms. Laimos” Ben said to the woman writing on the chalkboard “This is my dad, Dean.” his voice was full of obvious pride as he gestured to Dean.
The teacher turned and Dean forced his face to remain impassive. Damn they didn’t have teachers that looked like that when he was young, and if they did, he’d be acting like Ben for sure. “So you’re the dad Ben has been talking about.” she smiled and offered her hand.
“I suppose I am.” he said grinning back as they shook “He has a lot to say about you also.” he added locking eyes with her.
If she understood what he was talking about she gave no indication “He is a very good student.” She took a step back “So what can I do for you?”
Dean blinked a few times “Um…you wanted to see me.” he said looking down at Ben.
“I did?” she asked looking at Ben herself “When did I say that?”
Ben mad a face “You told me you wanted to meet my dad!” he said “You said he could help you with the Lamia.” Dean was inwardly impressed the kid managed to say the word correctly.
“The what?” she said smiling, and then a look of realization came over her face “Oh…Ben did you mean the story?’
“Story?” Dean asked a bit gruffer than he meant.
She nodded “We were going over Greek myths last week.” she knelt down to say to Ben “Ben that was a story…those things aren’t real.”
Ben’s eyes got wide “But you told me…”
“Ben” the teacher said reproaching him “What did we say about lying?”
Ben looked up at Dean “But I didn’t lie!”
And if it was any other kid, Dean might have believed her. If Ben was given to flights of fancy or imagination he might actually believe he had made up some part of this story somehow. But the fact remained, Dean would never think Ben would lie to him and the kid knew him and Sam were hunters. Which meant something was wrong.
Dean smiled at her and said in a conversational tone “Christo”
The teacher’s eyes grew instantly black as she took a half step back and almost hissed. Dean’s reaction as just as instant, he went to grab the pistol from the back of his jeans when the classroom door opened and dozens of kids spilled in, laughing and screaming. Dean froze as the teacher’s eyes went back to normal; she just smiled as child after child came in, each one saying good morning to her. She raised an eyebrow as if to say ‘What are you going to do now?’
“Class is starting Mr. Winchester, time for you to leave.” she said with that smile in place.
He never took his eyes off of her as he said “Come on Ben, you’re sick today.”
“I am?” he said looking up at Dean and then nodding quickly “I mean, yeah…cough cough.”
Dean held out his hand as Ben took it “Be seeing you real soon Ms. Laimos.” he walked slowly out of the room and into the hallway.
As soon as the door closed Ben said “Dean I didn’t lie…”
“I know kiddo.” Dean said as they walked towards the exit “I believe you.”
They began walking towards the parking lot when an adult opened up one of the doors and called out “Ben! Ben come back…”
“Damnit” Dean said “Come on!”
They ran to the Impala, the man holding out one arm and ordering them to stop. Dean jumped into the driver’s side and took off as the man waved after them. “Buckle up” Dean ordered.
“Where are we going?” Ben asked in excitement.
“Good question” Dean muttered.
The principal turned around at the approaching security guard “Call the police, issue an amber alert. And someone get the mother on the phone now!” he screamed. This was exactly what he didn’t need today.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Sam was watching stories when Lisa came busting through the front door. He spun around as she called out Ben’s name in frantic worry. Seeing Sam she came rushing towards him “Where is he? Where did he take him?”
Sam stood up in confusion “What? Who?”
“Dean!” she almost shrieked “The school called, he showed up at school and then left with Ben. When they tried to stop him they ran…where did he take my son?” she screamed.
Sam tried not to note that Ben was now her son now. He reached in and pulled out his cell phone “Let me check.” he said dialing Dean’s number.
Dean’s voice came over the line “She there?”
Sam looked over at Lisa “Yeah…what’s up?”
“Teacher was a demon; I took him out of there.” Dean said softly, from the background noise it was obvious they were somewhere public.
“Yeah ok” Sam said nodding “But the school…kind of freaked.”
“Where is he?” Lisa demanded coming around the couch.
“Wow she sounds pissed.” Dean said over the phone.
“You think?” Sam asked as Lisa took the phone from him.
“Where is my son?” Lisa screamed into the phone.
“Lisa” Dean said “Calm down…”
“Don’t tell me to calm down Dean!” she began to pace “I get a call from the school that you took off with Ben…”
“I just wanted to spend a day with him.” Dean said quickly. “He’s right here Lisa, he’s fine. You want to talk to him?”
She paused “What? You took him from school to spend a day with him?”
“He wasn’t feeling well.” he tried to explain “He just wanted to skip a day. Lisa come on calm down.”
She tried to control her voice as she said “Let me talk to Ben.”
Dean covered the phone and said to Ben “You need to sell this dude.” and handed the phone to him.
“Hey mom” Ben said trying to sound as casual as possible.
“Ben are you ok? Did he take you against his will?” she asked.
“No! Jeez mom!” Ben said trying to defend Dean “I yakked at school and I wanted to come home. We’re just getting some breakfast.”
“You threw up and you’re eating more?” Lisa asked with suspicion.
“Um…I had room for it?” Ben tried.
“Put Dean on the phone.” she said in a low tone.
Ben handed the phone over to him “She’s pissed.”
Dean sighed “Tell me about it.” he put the phone to his ear “See? He’s fine.”
“Bring him back now Dean. Bring him back right now and then get out. I was an idiot to think this would work. I mean what do I even know about you?” she said more to herself “I just gave my son to a one night stand…perfect.”
Dean froze as if slapped. In the most even tone he could muster he said “Lisa, this isn’t a big…”
“Home Dean. NOW!” and she hung up.
“How bad?” Ben asked.
Dean looked down as he hung up the phone “About as bad as it can get.” He stood there for a while and then said “Come on, let’s get you home.”
Ben looked depressed, but didn’t argue as they walked back to the Impala.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
As they pulled up Dean looked over at Ben “No matter what happens, things are going to be ok with us.” he saw the fear in Ben’s eyes “Ok?” he held out his hand in a fist. Ben made a fist himself and then bumped it. “Ok, let’s go face the dragon.”
They got out and walked up the walk slowly, halfway Lisa came rushing out of the door towards Ben “Ben get over here right now!” she scooped him up and hugged him “I am so sorry…I should have never left you with a stranger.”
Ben pulled back “Dean isn’t a stranger, he’s my dad!”
Lisa looked at him and blurted out “We don’t know that…not for sure.”
Ben froze at the same time Dean did. Lisa looked at him “It isn’t like he was the only one who could be your dad.”
Dean felt like he had been sucker punched. The blood drained from his face as he just stood there silent. Sam came out a few seconds later, their gear over his shoulder looking as sheepish as possible. In a very small voice Dean said “Well we should go.”
“Maybe you should.” Lisa said the anger in her voice evident.
“Sam let’s get.” Dean said, holding out the keys to his brother. Sam gaped at them for a moment, his brain not realizing what he was saying. And then he took them, a look of complete sympathy on his face. Dean turned and began walking towards the car like a zombie. He heard Ben call back “Dean, don’t go!”
Lisa shushed him “Don’t Ben, just let him go. We’re better off without him.” Dean felt another dagger sail at his heart as he got into the car.
“Where to?” Sam asked as Dean got in.
“Anywhere but here.” Dean said, sounding like a dead man,
Sam started the car and took off; he looked over and saw Dean leaning his head against the window, saying nothing.

“And that’s that.” Ms. Laimos said to the ‘janitor’ who had dropped by her classroom “One baby Winchester, no waiting.”
The janitor’s eyes flashed yellow as he smiled “Well done daughter…with the boy the hunters are completely helpless. We take them tonight.” He saw her eyes flash as well “The mother is of course…all yours.”
‘Meg’ smiled the smile of a predator, a predator that had just found fresh prey.
