What a crazy past two weeks it has been. Last Monday I got the call that Adrienne had been in an accident. It was almost as if I knew before my mom told me...to be honest I've been waiting for the day it happened. The Jeep was totaled - Adrienne was driving on 700 and went off the road, hit a large rock and the car turned on its side before smashing into a telephone pole that came down onto the car. If you look at pictures of the Jeep you really wonder how she made it out alive, much less without any major injuries. She didn't even break anything. But needless to say its put all of us on edge.
Then the next day after the accident the auction at Geauga Lake took place. I spent the whole day on the North Side, trying to keep the auction-goers out of restricted areas. It was really a kind of surreal experience; I saw alot of history be sold to the highest bidder. It was more than sad, and I think we all felt it. Even Dave showed some emotion towards the ridiculously-cheap bids that were accepted for some of the rides. It's something that will always be part of my memories, for sure. And of course I ended up in a picture in the Plain Dealer...and Adrienne saw me on the news.
Work has been pretty hectic and stressful. I've taken up the slack and took charge when Tom isn't there, and so I've been responsible for getting four new officers trained. Dave told me the other day he appreciated all the work I've done and my stepping up to take charge...which is good because our hours got cut, but Dave gave me priority over everyone, so I haven't lost hours...yet. But we've been stretched really thin because of the auction, and now we have to post at least one officer Northside to log the contractors in and out. I'll be happy when things get back to normal, if they ever do. Sara and I have something going on, but I don't know what it is, or if it even exists. She's sort of dating another guy, and so I don't know what we are, and I don't know if we should be anything. It didn't work out last time, and I think I'm getting to the point where if I am involved with a girl, it needs to be in a legitimate relationship...definitely not a summer fling. So who knows...
I'm looking forward to the 4th of July next week...I can't believe summer has gone by so fast. Vacation isn't coming soon enough...I can't wait to smell the ocean.
Oh, and did I mention I've been driving a Dodge Charger all week?
