On Twilight the book.

So people had been making this Twilight hype for a while now. They've read the books, watched the movie, prolly half of them are fangirling over it, and half are tying it on a stake to burn it down to a crisp.

Me? I'm just watching the entertainment.

So here I am, posting in LJ, the first time after a long time, and I'm going to review about Twilight, the first of four books.

If you're a Twilight fan, I suggest you skip this entry.

Half of the story reminded me of reading those books you may remember reading while in high school, like Love Stories or Sweet Valley High (comparison is closer to the Love Stories series though). There were sentences that was just...weird which I couldn't pinpoint until one of my friends figured it out for me: It has a bit of fanfiction feel.

So there, read read read...there was a part that I find hooked for some reason, but the story is going a little too good. So finally, I am reaching to the climax of the story. I thought, 'hey, this book may not be so bad after all. Boring (characters, plot), but not bad.'

And when the climax of the story was over, everything I thought that was good was bashed to the ground.

As in, seriously, why DID the climax went THAT WAY?! The build-up was good, but the hell? Where is the action?

I couldn't put it in writing how I feel about it. I forgive it to be boring and all (not to mention some indiscrepancies in vampire lore, then again, there are so many things about vampires recently that I feel like I'm disenstisized by them all), but ruin the story by laying out such a crappy climax?

Overall, it was a good romance novel, good enough for pre-adolescents, but you will never find this book on my shelf, and I wouldn't advise it either. Rule of storymaking is that you build your story up, put some climax on it, then slowly descend. The climax felt like a road hump rather than a mountain. Hell, the romance part is longer, much more substantial, and felt like a hill compared to the climax part.

You may feel like I'm expecting too much, and why shouldn't I? It had this MUCH hype, so rationally, it must be good, or near that qualification.

It wasn't. It failed me.

I'll go bash some pillows now.
