our president's an idiot.
so education is a big deal to me. my mom's a teacher, my dad's going to be a teacher and i plan on going back to school for special education, so to me, it's kind of important. and i have to say no child left behind (no teacher left standing) was and still is one of the worst ideas ever. i'm perfect example of why this program is a failure. i test very well, i always have high standardized test scores and yet i didn't graduate high school on time. those bumper stickers are right, a child is more than a test score. however, our wonderful savior mr. obama doesn't seem to realize that. and apparently he loves merit pay. merit pay is bullshit. what about the teacher whose students parents aren't involved in their life what so ever. obviously those students aren't going to do as well in school. or what about students like me, whose parents try very hard to get them to do well but the student (me) is just lazy and distracted all the time. there is no fair way to to ensure the right teacher are getting the merit pay raises. they are just to many outside factors in childrens' lives to make sure they are getting everything they need to succeed. and then, what about the art teacher, or the gym teacher, or the special ed teacher. they get completely shafted just because they don't standardize test in their classrooms. or in the case of the special ed teacher, they have they widest variety and most challenging kids to work with. and yet, they get nothing with obama's merit pay plan. and then what happens when ten years down the road, that once great teacher with great test score starts to slip. she'll still be making more money than the gym teacher who has only gotten better and better over the ten years. bullshit i say. merit pay sucks. no teacher left standing suck. obama sucks.
