Since a lot of us are noticing the empty spaces in our friendslists that were once filled with talkative, active posters- I figured I'd use my icon journal to start a multi-fandom friending meme for those of us still active on Livejournal to find others that are still around in our fandoms.

Oz is awesome. Did you read "Retreat"?
I love Seth Green, too.

I was lucky to be able to read the comic books separately but this is the whole miniseries, plus the Harmony comic. Until the Retreat series, the Harmony comic was my favorite of season 8. It's hilarious.
I'm not sure if there's a way of reading Retreat online but it's worth the read and money for an Oz fan. The ironic/funny thing is that by Oz leaving, he ended up with the best life of all the characters. It's very cute.

I keep hoping that this fairy tale resurgence will lead to a sequel but so far Alice has been the closest thing we've gotten.
Did you read the book?

Oh no, you won't see it?
Which illustrations scared you? I loved the illustrations. I couldn't wait for Wonderstruck which is written the same way and also awesome. Part of it takes place in 1977 so it even has a Star Wars poster in the background of one drawing.
The thing about Hugo is that it's directed by Martin Scorsese who's a man who loves and adores early cinema with a fiery respect. In the book, they could only mention all those early pieces of cinema like Melies' work but in a film, we could SEE it. It had all those old films on the big screen, or even in 3D if you chose, and they were beautiful. It's such a rarity to be able to see them in a proper theatre like that as though we were back in 1925.
My mom and I bug everyone to see it.

There is one part of the movie that was really hard to watch but it's only one short scene...a nightmare he has.
However, I do like that it is an example of Victorian technology and I LOVE the Victorian era. Also, yes, the actual footage from real early films makes it all worth it.
