So, apparently Monolith Soft is making a new RPG for the Nintendo Wii called Xenoblade, and the trailer looks somewhat interesting, although it's mostly the music that catches your attention. It's called Monado outside of Japan, and it's making me consider getting a Wii, because if this game is being developed by the same folks who worked on ( Read more... )

I loooove the music in that trailer. <3 Xenogears and Xenosaga are pretty decent games, and you can get Xenosaga now (it's a trilogy, fyi) for a pretty cheap price. I don't know if you'd like it or not, but the music is really good for the series (first game they had Yasunori Mitsuda, and the last two had Yuki Kajiura as composers). The second game felt really "meh" to me, and a lot of folks didn't like it much, so if you do decide to play it, I suggest borrowing it from a friend first, in case you end up hating it.

My favorite artist of all time does the character designs for the first game in the trilogy though, which is probably why I like it more than the other two. >.>

Xenogears is hard to find for under fifty dollars, so if you can borrow a copy from a friend, I'd really suggest you do that. The character sprites really suck (especially during close-ups), but the rest of the graphics are pretty decent. It's got a solid soundtrack, and I love the story. If you ever play it, the second disc isn't quite as fun as the first one, since they ran out of time to finish it, so a lot of it is just mashing the 'x' button to make them talk faster.

You will also learn to love/hate Citan. Love him because he's awesome, but hate him because he won't fucking shut up, omg. If you asked him how to make toast, he'd tell you in the longest way humanly possible.

I'd totally lend you my copies of the games if I could, but you live so far away. D:
