Restless Genital Syndrome -- no, seriously

This was a new one on me. I don't know if it's a case where the whole world has already heard of this and I'm just late to the party, but -- I mean, Restless Genital Syndrome??? Seriously?!?

I admit my first reaction was -- Orgasm as a form of neuropathy? Jeeze, my neuropathy is always hideously painful. How'd these chicks manage to luck out ( Read more... )

Once they'd decided on that for a dx, they basically force-fed me. I was taking in 5000 calories per day in a combo of food and high fat/high protein shakes, and it was disgusting! :/ Early on, trying to get into the swing of taking in that many calories, I threw up a few times, because my stomach was literally stretched to the limit, and it was terribly uncomfortable. :/ Because I live in CA, a medical MJ state, and already used medpot for spasticity and spasm control, I got into the habit of smoking a little after everything I ate (or drank with a thicker consistency).

It was rough, it felt like all I ever did was eat and smoke pot, and not in a fun way. One funny spot was realizing that, for most folks, getting the munchies was a down side to medical cannabis, but for me at the time it was an added benefit! It was rough on the bank account too, because those caloric shakes are expen$ive, as are avocados (healthy high fat content) and marijuana. ;->

I've had unexplained weight loss a few times since then, but it's always stopped on its own after just a few lbs., never anything close to as rapid or as much as that first time. The docs said that they believed the cue to heading it off might be to be aggressive when it first starts -- force the calories after the first 3 to 5 lbs., rather than waiting for it to get worse.

I have to say, I'm not sure how effective (or even desirable) it is. It seems like nothing they did had any impact -- I'd force in 5000 cpd for a week, stand on the scale, and be down 1 lb. It seemed like the weight loss continued for a while, slowed, then stopped on its own time, irrespective of what the doc and I did or didn't do.

At some point during all that, my metabolism definitely re-set itself to burn more at lower activity levels, because my tendency these days is to lose or maintain, rather than gain -- although that seem to be changing somewhat too, as my body adjusts, or due to menopausal changes, or some combo -- it seems I do have to actually pay attention if I want to lose these days. I also know I have started to lose lean muscle mass, and that worries me. I haven't been up for activity so much for a while, and have dragged my stupid little foot-pedal thingie back out of the garage and dusted off my wimpy little free weights. ;->

I never did get my "girlish" figure back though. I lost most of my body fat, which left me flat-chested and booty-less for the first time since puberty, and I've never gotten my boobs or my butt back. :/ I notice the gain in my face and that's just weird!

You've got the height to look willowy, at least; I look boyish. That's kind of a weird look when you combine it with long graying red hair, LOL! ;->
