Tikvah House

I am so psyched about what I think is going to be my big project for spring semester at Hillel!!! I went to a meeting this morning at Tampa's JCC to listen to a commitee discuss plans for Tikvah House. Tikvah House is going to be a home for 6-12 special needs young adults with disorders varying from Down Syndrome to Autism. The members of the commitee all have children with a disability and are so devoted to this project. It's all in the early stages....they haven't even started fundraising yet and they're looking at a 1-2 million dollar building. I plan on putting together events along with the rest of the board in order to do some fundraising for them and also to have interaction with these kids....well I can't really say kids....the majority are about our age or a little older. Hopefully after we've spent some time with them and everyone's gotten comfortable with each other we'll be able to put together a big social event like a dance for them!! It would be sooooo absolutely amazing! I'm really excited about working with them. I have such a great feeling about this....it's going to be such an accomplishment!
