i went out to dinner with one of the nicest guys imaginable. what was the best thing about it, besides the converstation and good food (mmmm...falafel's), was that he took control of the meal. yes, that sounds bad but do let me explain. he pulled out my chair for me (i giggled when he did that, probably shouldn't have done that), consulted me on what appetizers/drinks to order and when the waitress came around, he did all the talking, same with ordering the main course. it was so nice not to have to worry about any of it and let him do all the work. what was most impressive was the fact that he was completely respectful towards me about the entire thing, not condescending in the slightest. beyond that, the check came, he picked it up, paid for it (without blanching), and politely refused when i offered to pay half. i know this is probably quite superficial for the rest of you but none of the guys who i've gone out with have ever done that and it was...nice to be taken care of in that way. i s'pose i'm losing my feminist ideals for, not only allowing it, but enjoying it at the same time. but then again one would hope that feminism runs deeper than that. besides, there's nothing wrong with being spoiled once in a while. :) especially by a cute european business professor.
