Progress report
Skyfire and I have convened, and have found a solution for two out of three of the problems we face with the Rust.
The first problem: terminating the microorganisms that are residing on the metal; we have found that a sodium precarbonate and soda ash solution will do so (humans commonly call it 'bleach').
The second problem: removing the oxidation that is left behind without damaging any of the metal below. An electrical charge passed through a solution of sodium carbonate removes it quite well while causing no such damage.
The third problem: preventing more microorganisms from attaching to the metal. That, we are currently still working on. We believe that we can alter the previous formula.
Hopefully we shall have more news in the next few solar cycles.
I would like to inform you all that if you see a single spot of oxidation on yourself or on any part of the ship, please come to the auxiliary medbay or report where you saw the oxidation.
