[It's a very distinctly accented voice which speaks, a bit groggy and not yet fully awake. And yes, Zevran does have the habit of talking to himself every now and then, it alleviates some of the boredom. But he's not yet aware that the brand spanking new rune around his neck is actually recording all of it.]...I do not recall going to sleep here ( Read more... )

[ What catches Cecil's attention as he's browsing posts is the name "Alistair". That, and, well, the audio feed of this individual seems as confused and as unaware as he was. If they know the same Alistair the paladin did, the new arrival likely has little to no knowledge of technology. Naturally, the white knight wants to help. ] The Dreamberry can appear as an object that is familiar to you, but new to your inventory. Look for an item that you did not have in your possession before you awoke here.

...new but familiar. That is quite confusing, I must say.

[Another spirit voice? And this one male. Hm...seems the Fade gets pretty boring, if all these spirits are converging on one elf.]

Let me see...well, I still have my weapons, but half of my pack is missing. I was not aware the Fade did such things.

[ Cecil has a lot of questions already for the other man, particularly about this "Fade" he keeps mentioning, but he tells himself to postpone the interrogation until after he's helped the other locate his Dreamberry. ]

Perhaps it is on your person.

[OH HI YOU IN THERE. The rune changes in Zevran's hand, and he drops it with a surprised curse. Give him a minute while he prods it with his dagger, making sure it isn't going to change into a Hurlock and eat him.

And his countenance swims into the vid pickup, frown evident.]

...what is this deviltry?

[ The paladin smiles, managing not to laugh at the... elf, is it? At least he doesn't appear to be a dark elf! Cecil leans forward and gives a small nod of greeting to the elf. He remembers he reacted much like the new arrival upon first turning on a modern shower. Thankfully, his Dreamberry only transformed into an item from his home world after his initial discovery of it. Still, his reaction to it was no less embarrassing. ]

Ah, there you are. My name is Cecil Harvey. I know - it is all very shocking. The Dreamberry functions primarily as a means of communication. You can send messages to others instantly with it similarly to how you would write a letter or, as we are doing now, speak with others through image and sound. It is a sort of... science, I was told, called technology.

[It takes him a minute, but finally Zevran picks the thing up and stares at it a bit more closely.]

What a curious thing...is it of dwarven make, I wonder...? [Then he snorts a laugh.] Although imaging Oghren trying to operate this small thing is amusing indeed.

[Then he focuses on the face on the screen.] Ah, now I see. Cecil, is it? I am Zevran Arainai, of Antiva. 'tis a pleasure.

[ The white knight chuckles quietly. Dwarves from his world are also rather handy, but he can't see Giott using the Dreamberry without becoming very frustrated first. ]

Likewise, Zevran. Welcome to Somarium. What exactly is the Fade?

Mmm, thank you, I suppose. ...although how I have come to be here is still of some confusion to me. Ah, well.

The Fade is known as the dream realm, or so the mages say. It is the place where souls go when they sleep, where demons and other spirits live and seek those weak beings to gain entrance into the physical. 'tis a place of hallucination and nightmare, but also of peace, or so I understand.

[Wynne's lessons at their finest, yo.]

[ Cecil is obviously fascinated by this explanation; his cobalt eyes go a little wider and he even inclines his head to the right about an inch or so. Mages know of this dream realm then? He wonders if Rosa and Rydia would be able to learn more about it if they were in Zevran's world. ]

Intriguing. But from what I know of Somarium, it is not the Fade. It confuses me, honestly. I have not been here for very long myself and, unfortunately, it does not seem that anyone knows how we all were brought here. Or how we can leave. [ He frowns slightly. ] Is Alistair a friend of yours?

[Zevran's no mage; he only listened with half an ear - no pun intended - to Wynne's explanation. As far as he's concerned, it's a place to be avoided.]

That's...unfortunate. [The elf frowns.] I have a few obligations to take care of back in Ferelden. [A rueful chuckle.] One might say my life depends on them.

[Alistair? The templar certainly gets around.]

Eh...I would not say "friend", exactly. More of a...traveling companion, if you will.

I see. He was here briefly a few weeks ago. He disappeared suddenly, as many do. Quite the... humorous man. [ As for the obligations Zevran has back home, Cecil completely misunderstands. Well, sort of. ] I also have matters to attend to in my home realm, but a friend of mine has both returned home and come back here to Somarium. He said it was as though he had never left his native world.

[....yeah, okay. That's confusing.]

Er...how is that possible? The man has not been absent that I have been able to tell.

[And Zevran would know. Kinda hard to miss the man, at that.]

This is powerful sorcery indeed. Tell me, are there by chance any apostate mages running about?

Apostate mages? No, I... don't think so. What are these mages rebelling against exactly?

[The elf shrugs. Mages really aren't his forte.]

The Chantry, to hear them tell it. Or each other, perhaps.

Hmm. I suppose that would make sense. Magic is tied directly to our religion in my home world. Without a spirituality, one would likely be unable to use white magic.
