It is the elk's duty to protect and guide, especially one's own herd. Now go find them before the hunters do.

[He seems surprised and pleased, despite the circumstances, to meet someone who matches his sayings.]

Will the chattering sparrow give direction to the wayward beast?

[She was actually more fond of abstract poetry, but the metaphor was already there, and with her schedule, she had no time to think of something else without any good reason.]

If you aren't slipping on the ice, you must not be very far into the cave. The exit should be to your south.

[Because fourth wallers are totally allowed to somehow know these things.]

My thanks, gracious sparrow.

[Still holding the injured Atka close to him to keep her warm, Raven leaves the safety of the crevasse and begins running south at a steady pace. The various Swinub and other Pokemon that get in his way are shoved aside like dead leaves.]

[He makes it out with minimal injury, save for a nasty-looking bruise on one beefy arm and some ice on him broad back.]

I suggest you make haste.

[She watched the incredible display of strength through the dreamberry with some degree of respect and awe- it would take a human a lifetime to gain that kind of strength.]

Once you are sure your kin is safe, you should get medical attention. You won't be much of a guardian in that condition.

[Naturally a big man, Raven has spent his life honing his body and mind to the pinnacle of his abilities. He was given his strength to use it, after all.]

I will find my companion again. I only pray that she too was not transported to some distant place.

[Atka squirms in his arms and he cuddles her closely for a moment, uncaring who saw the display of emotion.]

You did very well, Atka. I am proud to have you at my side.

So you were taken away from your home as well?

[Now this was interesting. Here she thought she just caught up in the living world's shenanigans.]

I arrived here hardly a week ago. It seems there are many who come from different times and places.

This is the first time I have been transported within the new world itself, however.

Then this entire area must be unstable. The incident will have to be resolved before anyone can return home.

[Or, at least, to keep anyone else from arriving. This is supposed to be a human's job, but she has little choice in the matter.]

Would it be acceptable if some people stayed here?

[He's not going to question her words; Raven can tell this apparent youth is more than human.]

I'm not sure what will happen when the incident is resolved, but keeping others from arriving is a top priority. Until then, we can't be sure what will happen.

[She's a bit surprised to see someone taking her seriously, but she is far too worried to pay it any mind.]

I fear you will have your work cut out for you; it seems there has been a sudden influx of new people and creatures.

[He's a Shaman; they're used to making conversation with the Powers That Be. In addition to that, Raven understands what it is to have people assume that wisdom only comes with age and brains never accompany brawn.]

Those are simply the consequence and the victims of the incident, the source is what's important.

[Wisdom may come with things other then age, but Shikieiki was definitely not lacking in that department. She chose the appearance of a small girl, but she was actually thousands of years old.]

I wish you luck, then, on discovering the source. I believe others have spoken of seeing a white light originate from New Bark Town before the most recent batch of arrivals.

[Thus, the point.]

Then that's where the investigation needs to begin.

[It'll take about... a week and a half to get there. Dammit.]
