Tasty and expeditious

Ah the Sandwich, the glorious combination of foodstuffs held close to one another by the loving embrace of a bread product of some type. Perhaps the greatest invention of all time, what else combines the subtle brilliance of a well aged slice of cheese, with the tangy goodness of honey mustard? Maybe some type of cheese-mustard, but we shall speak no more of that horrible Sunday night long, long ago. The point is that sandwiches rule.

I feel this way even after eating a sandwich from Subway, if sandwich shops were like musicians Subway would totally be Kid Rock. Nothing special, vaguely annoying, occasionally frustrating and inexplicably popular despite the multiplicity of superior musicians/sandwich shops available. And yet this sandwich from the mediocre dispenser of sandwiches satiated my craving for food this afternoon. Imagine what would have occurred if I had consumed a sandwich from a superior sandwich shop? I likely would have suffered a severe seizure of pure joy.

The Sandwich is quite easily the greatest invention since sliced bread. And do you know why sliced bread was such a great invention? If not for sliced bread, the sandwich could not have been created. What else is sliced bread good for if not its use in a sandwich? Toast? Hah, silly you. Toast is simply a beautiful and fascinating variation on the open faced sandwich archetype.

And so, ye olde Earle of Sandwiche, wherever you may be, I Salute you good sir.
