it was poverty that kept you sweet and your dreams that kept you young

Yea, you need to own this. If just for 'Switchblade'. Damn good song.

As I sit here, glancing every so often to my notebook (where I have to describe something using different/creative terms) and then do 'why not...' exercises, I am still going to put this section of homework off until tomorrow.

And don't look at me that way! I already did some today. Sheesh.

I have a rec, though. And that is important! :D

Waking Up was so much better than I thought it might be. And my longings for good & angsty XWP fic were high from the get-go.
Still, even with the tone this story takes and some of the things that occur, I really liked this fanfiction for a few key reasons:

-Xena actually seems static at first (painfully so), which is rare in this aspect of XWP fandom. It was oddly refreshing.
-Gabrielle is not a child. Or innocent. Or naive. She is not some nick-name spewing girl, tripping over her own feet and being 'pouty'. She's a little bit of everything. She's real.
-The ending is so fucking bittersweet. I love endings like that. LOVE THEM.

Go. Go read. :)
