Here is an update that I have been waiting over a month to do. Kevin has found a job. Yes! As my mom said... the only thing that could have made yesterday a better day is if we had won the lottery.
I am now not the only one in the family that is gainfully employed. The new job is with the marketing company of record for GM. Of course this is back in the auto industry but hell we need the money, so I shall not be negative about that. This company however has been around for a while and has guaranteed yearly production so that should help their cause.
Due to Kevin's month long nothingness, I have compiled a list of things that I have not been able to do due to insufficient funds.
Warning, the following makes me sounds forty times more spoiled than I actually am.
1. Time off from work ( I have worked 60 hour weeks at my job to compensate)
2. Dying my hair. Highlights just aren't highlights when they are two inches from the top of your head.
3. My gym membership.. Helloooo emotional eater! Gained 4 pounds this month because I can't afford to go to the gym, and frankly running was never my favorite thing to do.
4. Fresh fruits and veggies. Eating healthy is expensive. Kevin and I have resorted to the "save a lot" store in hopes of trimming the grocery bill, and no one buys fruit from save a lot!
5. Spending time with friends. We have managed to find low cost activities to do with friends, but i do not like the feeling of limiting the activities we can do because we can not afford things.
6. Going back to school. This was the plan for this upcoming year, however with the nest egg having some serious cracks in it...we may have to push my return off.
7. Finally... Good shampoo. Sad but true i do not like white rain!
Ok, off to go make a buck because his new job doesn't start until the end of the month.
I also want to thank those that sent emails or passed on a "good luck" or "thinking of you." Those sentiments really meant a lot during the stressful times and I know I can always count on you guys to be there. Also, for those crazy southerners who want us in the south. Sorry Michigan was just quicker with the replies to the resume, and lets face it, we are too poor to be picky.
