If it bears more resemblance to the skunks I'm familiar with than its looks, they only spray when they feel threatened. Perhaps you should try to calm it.

It's not impossible. It could be an defense mechanism to fend off any predators with eggs included in their diet.

I was able to come across cherries, so I'm sure there will be some available if you ask around - or at least something of that equalient.
