Not usually, no. This is somewhat of a special case, because of how this Pokemon reminds me of.

Not enough to name it after him, definitely not. But a similar name wouldn't be so bad, I think.

[Kyo watches the birth quietly, while two felines -- one on each shoulder -- meow in excited delight. His Meowth, Cat, is draped over his right shoulder, and his Shinx, Shock, is sitting on his left. He is careful not to move since his Shinx is still getting used to him and, like his namesake, would probably shock him.]

In a way, he reminds me of a friend. I'd like to give him a similar name, and this friend happens to have six letters in his name.

[Shock's attention is momentarily drawn to the other Shinx, who he has just now noticed. Oh hey bro. The scene is practically a reverse harem of male cats.]

Maybe you can use some of the same letters too or something. Or... name him after something your friend likes, or something he reminds you of. [You probably shouldn't ask Kyo for any specific names, however. He isn't the most creative.]

Hunter sounds like a cute name, though I'm not sure if that's quite what I'm going for.
