Personality:
Sanada is a very serious and strict person. Everything he does is done with great discipline. None of his time is wasted in useless things and he does everything the way things are supposed to be done. If he’s told to do something in a certain way, he will follow these orders and do everything the way he’s expected to do them, rather than come up with different and more creative ideas. He’s a man who follows traditions and rules proudly even if it makes him appear rather old-fashioned. He doesn’t really care about what people think about him. What’s important to him are his own values and what he himself wants to do. Sanada's also calm and almost nothing can shake him. Even in a tough situation he just observes and quietly tries to find a solution. He loses his calm only when he's really disappointed and angry or when he's backed into a corner in an important match.
The atmosphere around him feels rather scary as he usually never smiles. People usually avoid approaching him if possible. He’s silent and usually never starts a conversation first unless he really needs to talk to someone. Even when he’s talked to he usually just listens and only talks when he sees it necessary. Most of his communication is done through actions and signs rather than words. For example, he might just glare at you until you’re quiet. He’s also infamous for showing his anger and disappointment through slaps. Unfinished businesses, or bad feelings towards one another, should also be settled by tennis or kendo, rather than talking.
Losing is something that is unforgivable - not only to him, but also to his team. If someone loses, he will not be pleased and will be even stricter towards them. No matter how harsh he seems to be to other members of his team, he’s the strictest to himself. He hates those who slack off and don’t do their training seriously. He’s often heard yelling “Tarundoru” (Don’t slack off) at anyone who seems to be doing something that they shouldn’t be doing (or are doing it wrong), or to those who are just not doing anything. He also has a lot of pride in him which doesn’t let him lose even in smaller things. No competition is too small for him to take seriously. If his or his teams pride is on the line, he will do anything - even risk getting permanently injured - to protect it. This why every loss is a stain in their pride and that stain must be cleaned in the best way possible. He's also respected in his team. People follow his orders when the team captain isn't around. He's also capable of handling difficult personalities with just acting like he normally does. His tennis skills are also respected through Japan, as he is one of the strongest players in Junior High, called "The Emperor".
Even if Sanada seems rather unapproachable and cold, he also has a sweeter side on him. He just rarely shows it to anyone and the ways he does aren’t always too clear. He may seem like he doesn’t care much about his teammates, but in reality he really does. Even if he hates losing and losers, he will understand and encourage his teammates (in his own way) if they have learned something from this loss. He’s also rather close to the other members of “The Three Demons” (Yukimura and Yanagi). Towards Yukimura it’s more respect and loyalty, but also a friendship that has developed during years.

First Person Sample:
[The feed starts with a clear view of the cloudless sky. There's nothing really interesting going on here, until the camera is moved and Sanada comes to the view...
Upside down.]
Does this thing work?
[It takes a while before he realizes he's holding the gear wrong. He then quickly changes the position of the camera. Now, nost people would be embarrased at this point, but Sanada just calmly looks at the camera like nothing happened.]
Can someone tell me what's going on?
[That's all the questions you will be getting from him for now.]

Sanada had arrived to Johto on a nice afternoon. At first, like many, he had thought of it as a dream. Then slowly, with the help of PokéConnect, the reality had hit him. This was no dream. Even if it should have been impossible, he was still stuck in a completely different world, which resembled those games his nephew played at home. Yet, here he was, preparing to leave on his journey to train Pokémon, like he had been advised to.
There was something he needed to do before he would leave New Bark Town though. He hadn’t yet met his starter. So it was time to release it from its ball and see what he should be training.
“Snubbull!”
Sanada stared at Snubbull in silence. So, he had been given a pink dog as his partner. Not quite what he was expecting, but if this Pokémon had been given to him, he would train it like he would train any other Pokémon (or tennis player).
“We will now be partners. My name is Sanada.”
The Snubbull looked at Sanada for a while before sneering and looking away. Then it found a place that was a bit higher from the ground and took a pose. After noticing some girls further away it used the move Charm and the girls were thrilled by how cute the Snubbull was.
Sanada on the other hand was not impressed by this. There was some weird sensation coming from this creature which he couldn’t quite yet pin point. Something about this Pokémon was really familiar and it wasn’t a good thing.
It was then when he heard a snap. The Snubbull snapped his pawns elegantly together. This was…
“There’s no way.”
Snubbull repeated the snapping sound. There was no mistake. This Pokémon.
“Atobe!”
He had been given a Pokémon that acted like the pompous and annoying Hyoutei captain! Even in a completely different world Atobe managed to be a nuisance!
This was the start of a horrible journey.
