I always thought maybe the Pokemon do it. What if they sensed that you were... destined to be their Trainer, or something? And then some super-powerful Pokemon brought you here. Maybe [ and he's clearly getting more hyped up as he talks ] we're supposed to save this world or something! And be HEROES!

Though I guess that wouldn't make sense for why people go home...

Hmm... I guess it could be a really strong Pokémon! Maybe one of those legendary Pokémon. And it would be kind of cool if we were supposed to save the world or something!

... But you're right. That doesn't really explain why people end up going back home.
