Personality: Hyuuga is a fairly straight forward individual. He's exceptionally (occasionally infuriatingly) carefree: he would much prefer to sit back at work and relax rather than do paperwork like he should. Hard work may have its rewards, but he'd prefer to just take the rewards now and skip the work. While he's still certainly capable of sitting down and properly doing paperwork, he has very little drive to do so. His playful nature extends out even into situations where seriousness should come out more: during battle, he treats all things as a game. He is extremely confident in his abilities, and has little reason not to be. He is strong and can pull through nearly all injuries, which lends itself to the nature of battle being an amusing game wherein he's merely trying to find an opponent that will entertain him.

While he will kill opponents without thinking twice about it, he doesn't take a joy in killing for the sake of killing. He rescues two battle slaves on the grounds that they'll be more entertaining to everyone instead of killing them in battle, despite the fact that his strength was more than sufficient to justify killing them, and they were his enemies. Entertainment and most other comforts seem to be a priority for him. He's rarely seen without a lollipop in his mouth, and oversleeping is just par for the course for him. His intelligence occasionally takes a backseat to his gullibility: he pays a ridiculous amount of money for a magical pot which, of course, turns out to have absolutely no magical powers at all (and be worth considerably less than what he paid for it).

Despite his carefree and playful nature, Hyuuga is more than capable of putting in hard work. He obtained the rank of Major in the military and is extremely successful-- despite being a Warsfeil, a magic-user feared by the majority of the country he lives in. He is largely undefeated in battle and intelligent enough to catch on to the ultimate plans of his superior officer, Ayanami, despite the other man's secrecy. Hyuuga is also capable of ignoring pain and punishment if it's necessary: despite all of Ayanami's efforts to correct the behaviour, Hyuuga still calls him Aya-tan. He's frequently overly familiar with people and is relatively tactile, leading to nicknames for some people around him and negligence for many social standards.

Hyuuga's morals are somewhat loose. Murder, torture, and shady information are all things that are a relatively normal part of life for him. Despite his allegience to the military of Barsburg, his true allegience lies in Ayanami, whose plans and goals he will uphold more than any other. Despite this, he does show a decent amount of respect for other military members (in large part because they are capable of making his life considerably harder). Hyuuga is also extremely dedicated to the other members of his team, going so far as to challenge someone to a duel on the basis that if they win, they're a good enough person to befriend another Black Hawk.

Hyuuga does not have a temper. He tends to be cool, calm and collected, aside from the occasional freak out that tends to be fueled by Ayanami and the thought of punishment-- overdramatics fueled by Hyuuga's playful nature. He is never shown as truly angry with anyone, and even when many people are irritated with a person or a thing, Hyuuga tends to be the one restraining them from committing murder. He tends to roll with the punches and take things how they are, and strives to gain entertainment from them regardless.

Strengths/Weaknesses: On the side of strengths is more than likely his (relatively) good nature. He's slow to anger and friendly to people, which puts him on many people's good sides, making it easier for him to fit into any given situation or group of people. He's physically strong and mentally quick: he can understand plots within plots, even if he doesn't always show that he understands them, and he understands people and reactions. He's capable of quickly completing tasks (if he wanst to), and doing them well, even if they're not part of his normal habits. He's extremely loyal and can keep secrets well-- when he wants to, of course, and is a good battle tactician.

On the other hand, he is, to put it lightly, lazy. He doesn't like doing a lot of the things that life requires (cleaning, paperwork, busywork) and will jump through hoops to try and get around them. He has a nonchalant attitude towards most things, but can be a bit overconfident and reckless, particularly in battle. He doesn't mind being injured, and he's easily bored, frequently seeking forms of entertainment, be it his own dreams, magazines, or a fight against a strong opponent. He is not terribly proper, even if he's aware of social conventions, doing things such as giving superiors pet names and becoming too-familiar with people he may not know terribly well. He's a bit mercurial in terms of whim and will do things simply because he wants to, which can lead to strange situations.

Samples
First Person Sample: [look at this charming man on screen, Johto! look at his sunglasses as they cheerfully reflect the sunlight, and that sunny smile on his face! this is no normal newcomer to Johto, oh no. This is Major Hyuuga of the Barsburg Imperial Army, and he is totally ready to do some major slacking off and not have to worry about paperwork!!]

Hello, Johto! [♥] My name is Hyuuga! It seems I'm not the only new arrival, so I thought I would introduce myself. I'm pleased to meet all of you! [and he certainly does seem it, given the smile on his face. would a smile like that lie to you? (yes. yes it would.)] This seems like a wonderful place! I can't imagine the last time I had the freedom to go on a trip from city to city on foot! [he makes it sound like it's an adventure instead of a hardship, having to travel around on foot.]

I just have a couple questions! [he looks a little apologetic about this-- and a little airheaded.] How far is it to the next city, after, ah-- [he consults the Trainer's Guide, for a moment.] --New Bark Town? I recklessly set out without checking the distance, and I don't want to run out of supplies.

[and then he sobers, ever so slightly, casting a look from one direction to the other before looking back at the Gear, almost conspiratorily. he lowers his voice slightly. best not to be overheard, just in case! just in case.] And also, is there any chance of being forced to do paperwork here? Identification? Mission statements? Accounting for monetary spending?

[and then he brightens again, voice resuming its normal, playful tone.] Ah, that's all! I hope to meet everyone here! Thank you! [he offers the Gear a wink before he shuts it off. if anyone from the Black Hawks was here-- well, they'd notice the message and reply back to him. if there was anyone else who would recognize him here-- well, that would just add to the fun, wouldn't it!]

Third Person Sample: Ah? This wasn't Fort Hohburg. Hyuuga actually had absolutely no idea where he was, but it didn't look like anywhere in Barsburg. The architecture was all wrong, the buildings were spaced too far apart, and he honestly had no idea what some of the people milling around were wearing.

How strange. He'd been somewhere else a moment ago. A hallucination? No, it wasn't that. It was far too real and far too reliable to be a hallucination. Nothing was moving or changing, and the little details... Where were his swords? He didn't feel as though he'd been drugged. He reached down for his zaiphon and felt nothing; reached for his wars and couldn't bring up anything. He frowned for a moment. There was no memory of how he arrived in this place, no memory of events leading up to how he could have, and no tell-tale signs that his memory had been tampered with.

Well. This place seemed innocent enough. Birds were chirping (although what sort of a cry "Pidgey, gey!" was, he wasn't certain), flowers were blooming, people were talking. It seemed almost surreal to have such a quiet town. No place like this could ever have existed within Barsburg.

The bag at his feet was the most obvious answer. It was too close to his feet to have been left there on accident. He nudged it with his foot.

Nothing happened.

He nudged it a few more times, to be certain-- you never knew what dangers could lie within a bag, particularly in a new area like this-- but nothing happened each time, and finally, he reached down to carefully open it. Clothing, shampoo, food-- ah. Books.

Delightful. He had escaped the fate of endless paperwork and an unforgiving begleiter only to arrive at a mysterious location filled with books. If these didn't have answers, he was going to be upset.

Thankfully, they did-- after a fashion. After a quick skim through of both the trainer handbook (which he found relatively informative) and the guide to Pokémon Breeding (which he found relatively disturbing), he fumbled his way through the PokéGear.

What a strange devious! He sat promptly down on the edge of the path to snack on his packed lunch and figure this all out. Which he did. Rather promptly. How convenient, that he would arrive with so many other people! He didn't even need to ask as many questions as he thought he would.

Then, that left the matter of the strange white creature that had been rather insistently following him. "I suppose you're my Pokémon companion!" Hyuuga said, cheerfully. The Absol looked back at him, unimpressed. "I'll call you Aya-tan." The Absol looked, if possible, even less impressed.

"Come along, Aya-tan! We have a journey to make!" Hyuuga started out on the path, ignoring the "Sol..." from behind him that sounded suspiciously like a sigh. Hyuuga ignored it. A lovely place inhabited by creatures used for battling? Places to see? Places to go? Gym leaders to defeat? This sounded like a lovely vacation!

Best of all, there would be a lack of paperwork. He was delighted.
