Welcome to Johto. I'm sure you'll be given some explanation, if you haven't already - in short, we are trapped here, with no ostensible means of escape or communication to any place outside the region. There has been speculation as to our purpose here, how or why we arrived, and potential solutions or paths that may lead to answers, but I imagine you'll hear those in time, as well. None of them, to my knowledge, have borne any fruit thus far. Those who have returned home have done so both accidentally and incidentally to any of their actions here. Our fates, it would seem, are largely out of our hands.
As to the woman you encountered, I believe you'll find that she is one of many native inhabitants of the region who seems greatly bewildered by our presence. She and some of the others appear to function only within a particular comfort zone; their vocabulary and understanding are limited, it would seem. I wouldn't worry over them much.
And as to your business: regrettably, I doubt that you'll be attending to it anytime soon. The good news is that time does not appear to pass in our worlds while we're here. If and when you return, it should be as though you never left.

Ah, it seems you really 'know your stuff', as they say. And thank you for the welcome, though I don't plan on staying here for very long. [ pause. ] But I suppose that's said often around here, if we truly are 'trapped', as you say.
How is it possible, for it to not pass while we are here? Time surely has to pass somewhere, unless ... this is some form of limbo. Though I do not remember being in a situation that would cause me to be sent to such a place. And, tell me, do we retain our memories of this place when we return back to our 'worlds'? [ Taking everything with a grain of salt, but you seem like you know your stuff and he likes that. :) ]

I cannot personally confirm whether time passes in our worlds or not, but many others who have come and gone have said as much. It is most likely the case. This would appear to be a sort of pocket dimension, removed from the flow of time - correctly, not unlike Limbo. [ Capital-L-Limbo, no less. ]
Speaking from my own experience as well as the anecdotes I have heard from others, I do not believe that our actions prior to our arrival are responsible for our advent here. We appear to be selected entirely at random, drawn by chance from different times and worlds into this... nexus.
On the matter of retaining our memories, I'm afraid I can't say. I know of one individual offhand who left here and returned sometime later - he has said that his memories of his time back home are now unclear, but he clearly recalls his first spell in Johto. That said, I'm unsure as to whether he would even know if he remembered, but I could certainly inquire. I wouldn't mind learning more about this, myself.

Such a strange location for any sort of dimension, in the middle of a 'land filled with mystical creatures'. It seems more like a children's fairy tale, though I suppose it's better than arriving at the gates of Hell or some other unfortunate location. The fact that some come and go, while others simply just 'disappear', is an interesting mystery. It seems possible it could just be 'random', as everything seems to be here, but if there were some meaning to it ... [ The non-cannibal part of him wants to investigate that. ]
For that individual, post-traumatic stress disorder does not seem unlikely in a situation like this, causing him to forget his 'old life' but remember being here. I do hope that memory loss isn't permanent, and that coming here does not change either my biology or anything else. It seems likely that these 'Pokemon' creatures are victims of some sort of radiation or mad scientist. Though, it is also possible that I am over-thinking it. [ Small grin. ]
Of course, there's always a chance that this is all just some delusion, or an Alice in Wonderland situation. Not that I remember going down any rabbit holes or drinking anything marked as such, but it is still troubling in any case. I'm amazed Johto isn't a wasteland full of crime, with all of the individuals who could potentially show up. Criminals, terrorists-- or, if what people have been saying about 'different worlds' is true, something even worse. Who knows what evil lurks out there. [ pause. he looks off to the side and blinks, turning his attention back to the feed. ]
Ah, ignore my babbling. I'm more suited to speaking about the history of art than discussing the probabilities of the unknown.

In my time here - roughly seven months - I've never noticed any pattern or significance in the individuals who disappear, or in the timing of any of the inexplicable events that occur here, with perhaps one exception. Twice now, exactly six months apart, a weekend has passed wherein no one can recall a thing, save for strange dreams. Many people awoke in very different locations, as well, some unreachable in three days' time.
If you've not yet noticed your biology having been changed, it is likely that you are untampered with. Others are not so fortunate. Some of the visitors here in Johto were not even human in their world, and some who were human were certainly not ordinary, as we all are here.
There is a police presence, though I believe it to be largely incompetent. There is also a criminal organization; as I understand it, they steal valuable Pokémon. They've accomplished little that I've seen, though they make a grand lot of noise.

How strange... though it seems likely to be the result of a mass consumption of hallucinogens -- whether voluntary or not is up to debate -- which is not uncommon in most areas, especially when something gets slipped into the waters.
Ah, that's a relief. I would hate to suddenly grow superpowers; my old body might not be able to handle it. Though I suppose if others ... lose their own, if what you say is true, then that's likely not to happen.
Team Rocket, yes. I've heard a little bit about them; they were involved in a few kidnappings, I was told. Though, from the looks of things, they are about as incompetent as the so-called 'villains' in children's stories; bad enough to annoy the hero but weak enough to be taken down easily. But I suppose that's a good thing, if a bit unrealistic. It'd be quite a shock to come from a quiet retirement in Italy only to arrive in a world where crime runs rampant. [ Do you see the ghost of a grin reaching his face? It's there for a few seconds, then it's a pokerface. ]

That was a conclusion which I had reached, as well, until I was transported over a week away in the course of three days. That could hardly be the result of hallucination.
I've yet to see anyone gain abilities in coming here, unless opposable thumbs and the mastery of a common tongue are considered 'abilities.' There is no language barrier here, despite our hailing from vastly different countries and, indeed, worlds.
[ He doesn't miss that grin, but neither does he remark on it - it's just something that he tucks away next to Hannibal's face in his mind. He, himself, continues with his inscrutable smile. ]
It would be fair to say that Team Rocket and the police force deserve one another. They're quite well-suited in terms of competence.

Perhaps, perhaps not. When one is under the influence, they tend to do rather ... miraculous things. [ Like try to filet their own face off with a broken shard of glass. ] It is surely not impossible. Though I suppose it would be quite rude of me to impose my opinion as fact on somebody who experienced such an ... unsettling encounter.
Ah, I thought it was interesting that everyone I've spoken with knew almost perfect English, despite not appearing to be native speakers. Though, I suppose it only sounds like English when, in fact, it could just be any other language.

That's true, but it also leaves the rest of the population heavily at a disadvantage if a true threat appeared in Johto.

And at the same time, I cannot explicitly deny the possibility that you are correct. I'm afraid I've never had hallucinations induced by external stimuli before. ... Perhaps in another six months, you'll be afforded the opportunity to experience it first-hand, and you may be better equipped to put an explanation to it. [ After all, you're so experienced, and Sebastian doesn't look a day over twenty-five. ]
I have often wondered if it is the language we speak that has been altered, or simply the way we understand others. But I suppose if we each heard our own native tongue, there would have been some discrepancy in conversation by now - one person asks another where they learned French, for example, and the other replies that he only speaks English. Then, too, I've never heard a non-native speaker remark on the new language they mysteriously understand, either. Quite puzzling, indeed.
And I suspect that the sapping of special powers and extraordinary abilities is an attempt to quell that possibility. That's not to say, of course, that there aren't those among us capable of wreaking havoc with our bare hands - but many of us, I suspect, are much less potent threats than once we were.

Ah, I do hope there will be an option to not participate in such an event. I would hate to get settled in somewhere and suddenly wake up in a city days away. [ He may be a relatively healthy serial killer, but he's still old and all the walking will probably mess up his knees or his back or something. :( He's not as young as he used to be. ]
It would be worth looking into, at any rate. Though I doubt many people have thought too long about it. Many people here seem to just be content with agreeing with the majority opinion and accepting it as fact.
[ He likes what you're talking about, buddy. ] I could imagine, especially if such people have had their previous abilities taken from them. But perhaps those individuals have been brought here to be humbled; then again, that possibility sounds about as odd as any other. I do hope, however, that those capable of wreaking havoc with their bare hands would be more content with living in a state of 'retirement', as it were, rather than wreaking said havoc.

It is quite discomfiting, particularly when one's traveling companions do not always awaken in the same city. Each time, I have been forced to travel outside the city I awoke in to fetch my young master from a cave. [ He chuckles - the sound is both sardonic and sincerely amused. ]
I would speculate that simply arriving here and coping with the reality of it is more than most can tolerate. The human brain does have an extraordinary skill for simply overlooking that which it cannot abide. Of course, this theory would hold more water if anyone had ever taken note of the language discrepancy - or, indeed, if the less mentally fragile individuals had done so. [ He means himself. But as far as he can tell, everyone's speaking English.
And he meant himself about the havoc, too, but he'd be happy to hear he's not alone. ] I think that most would agree that Johto provides enough havoc of its own accord, with no help from its guests. Furthermore, I think you'll find that most individuals with such power have long since grown tired of such indiscriminate and untempered use of it, and have found much more constructive ways to occupy themselves. [ Like being butlers and babysitting cranky teens. ]

Ah, that does sound like quite a problem.
Indeed it does, which can cause quite a problem for those involved when one inquires about such things and cannot get a definite answer. One would think that with so many people here who have been here for so long, at least one would have an explanation -- or wish to seek the answer -- for the many odd things here. [ Perhaps he'll meet somebody, one day, who does know the answers. Maybe. ]
Such a thing sounds delightful, to one who would wish to have a peaceful existence here -- while also exploring methods of getting back home, of course. It would certainly be a nice change from living in a world where those who have the power do as they please, never getting tired of it or wanting to be rid of such power. And though the power I speak of is, in my own un-powered world, political and financial power, such a statement could apply to any sort of power. [ lol tell us more hannibal. ]

Indeed it is. I never truly had a 'boring' day on the job. And there is always so much to be learned about the mind and its limits. One can never truly know everything there is to know about the mind.
