[Hayate is looking at the Gear with a mildly bewildered expression. The music, the setting, Mom, all of it has her confused.] It was winter back home... Um! Sorry about that. Does anyone know where this is? There's some poor lady claiming she's my mother, and, well, that kind of can't be the case at all... I think maybe there's something wrong with her, is there anyone who could actually get her help...? [That's a worried frown, and she looks down at the Togepi in her lap.] Also, this little one seems lost or something. I think it's a she... she keeps following me. She's cute though!

[Anyone in New Bark Town will see a tiny girl- actually about the age a normal trainer should start- sitting on the ground with a Togepi, bag across her back. She doesn't seem that unhappy to be on the ground, at least!]
