To decorate trees, eat good food, spend time with friends and exchange gifts. It's an old tradition in celebration of the birth of Christ, regarded by some as the son of God in my world - where I assume you're not from.

I'm not really sure. It might have to do with the Tree of Life - that's another aspect of the religion these customs come from. However, in modern time, most people don't find it important.
