The Pokegear lies discarded temporarily, beside the rest of Touya's equipment. He'd been running and hiding from these whatever-they-were for too long--having lost track of Hiruma, now the shinobi had no idea where exactly he chose to stop running. What Touya did know was that he faced down three ten-foot tall monstrosities--an Aerodactyl skeleton flanked by two Kabutops.
"Hikari!"
In what some might consider a strange battle tactic, Touya threw the Pokeball not between himself and the creatures...but behind him, instead.
Hikari looked different to say the least, but Touya wasn't concerned with appearances at the moment. He couldn't see her from this position anyway.
Silence passed--tense silence, the glitched creatures shifting now and then to distort more of the ground they stood on. Touya's frigid gaze didn't waver, focused sharply in an unblinking stare. It seemed they wouldn't move until he did, and the Seel behind him sounded as if it was just as still as its trainer.
The shinobi raised his arms as if presenting a target to the three skeletal abominations. They shifted a bit more, one of the two Kabutops edging closer. Touya's stare hardened at that motion, and he snapped out a command to the creature behind him.
"Hikari, Ice Shard!"
Freezing wind blew past him from the white creature at his back, icicles flying by at blinding speed. Most flew past unobstructed--some unconscious drive not to injure one's trainer, Touya guessed--but several were caught in his outstretched hands.
The blade-armed creatures batted the attack away like it was nothing; that was fine. He'd expected that much. But now he was finally and literally back in his element. Touya jumped to the nearest tree branch, a collection of small icicles held like knives in his hands.
"Now, Icy Wind!" Hikari fired an unusually pixelated blast of snow and wind at the nearest Kabutops, Touya throwing several of the icicles for added measure. Once the cold and frost had cleared...
...there it stood, unharmed.
"What--?!" For once in his life, Touya was unquestioningly astonished.
"Hikari!"
