[Poor Shinichi. Given his mystery lookalike already present over here in good ol' Johto, you can bet that Edgeworth over there isn't the only one a little confused by his appearance.]
[When the feed blips on, Heather's just sort of... staring at the screen with her brows furrowed. She's seen Kaito and (more importantly) she's seen Kid, so part of her is wondering if this is another one of his goofy disguises and he's just pranking the network for kicks. But... this wasn't coming from either of the PokeGears he had...]
Uh.
Kai-- .... tooooh no. Never mind.
[Not Kaito. She was deciding this now just in case she totally embarrassed herself.]
If getting home's what you wanna do, you're not the only one.
M'sorry to say none of us have made much progress yet though.
[Down in the corner of the screen, Heather's own Growlithe is poking his nose into the picture curiously.]
[Yet another person mistaking him for someone. This is a little weird, but it doesn't trump everything else he's gone through so far, so he brushes that off.
I've always been a cool head in crisis. It's necessary for the job. This isn't even the first strange situation I've been in either. [Being shrunk back down to eight years old definitely qualifies as a strange even if there is a manga-science explanation for that one, and there are a few other crazy things this mun could mention, and of course Kid.... All of those things have EXPLANATIONS though.
Don't worry, once he actually does get around to investigating the town he'll get with the program.]
No offense or anything, but you seem kinda young to be a detective.
[All the detectives she knew back home (a grand total of... well. One) were GRIZZLED AND OLD. And smelled kind of like fish. She wasn't actually sure that Douglas bathed. Ever.]
I know. Obviously it's not official, but I've helped the police solve a few cases from time to time. [That is an understatement, but hey. Most of the detectives he knows are pretty old, but then there's like two others he works with from time to time that are 17 like he is and then there's the Detective Boys, who are eight, but those kids mostly follow him around like ducklings while he does the actual case solving and are useful from time to time so that's not as bad.]
[Of course, Heather... is not at ALL unfamiliar with the concept of achieving some pretty astounding things at the age of seventeen (lol savin worlds, killin gods, kickin ass), so while she does find it pretty impressive, she certainly doesn't disbelieve him.]
I help a detective out at home, myself.
We don't much collaborate with the police, though.
[Douglas was a failed cop and Heather's minor criminal record showed about how well she got on with the police...]

He frowns thoughtfully.]
Really? No progress at all?
Reply
Mostly we've just got theories, and I wouldn't really call that 'progress'.

Either way, thank you, Miss...?

And uh-- right.
Mason. Heather Mason.

[Then he nods and smiles a bit.] Nice to meet you Mason-san.

Pleasure's all mine.
You're takin' all this a lot better than most people do.
