Personality: When you get right down to it, Marluxia is every bit the traitor he’s accused of being. He’s arrogant, vain, and power-hungry, and although he’s certainly not incapable of hiding his plans, sooner or later they will out. In canon, this manifests itself largely in his attempt to overthrow the Organization. He sees little reason why he can’t rule just as well as - if not better than - Xemnas himself, and so he takes matters into his own hands. He nearly succeeds as well, a fact that speaks of a mind that can plan and build around any unforeseen circumstances.
To a point, anyway. For all his work, it’s undone surprisingly easy - involving only the release of one of his key pieces. Interestingly, he takes even this set-back in stride. As long as he can win the day, the pieces can be reassembled and things once again set back into their proper motion. It only takes work and he’s no stranger to that. Nor is he one to put aside his plans so easily. The hows are, to him, far less important than the end result, and enough waiting may well offer up a better set of options, should the first fail to yield the desired results.
On a more personal level, he tends to see himself as being superior to most people, at least within the Organization. Some of this may be a direct result of his being named as the lord of Castle Oblivion, but such depths of arrogance don’t rise up overnight, least of all when it can be seen in so many facets of his personality. In a sense, he uses that perceived superiority to better manipulate the people around him to his ends. He can’t care about how any of them end up, thanks to his heartless nature, so why should he even bother? In a situation where his superiority is less immediately defined (ie: Route, in which he is no longer the lord of the castle) he’s more likely to present himself as being relatively polite, albeit with a distinct tendency to the dramatic. A pretty face and a pretty smile to hide the thorns that lurk underneath.
With any luck until it’s too late for the people he plans to turn to his advantage.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
~Strengths~
-He’s stronger than he looks. A scythe is neither lightweight nor an easy weapon to wield, and Marluxia wields his both (seemingly) effortlessly and one-handed.
-Without a heart, he has no emotions. This in turn means that it’s harder for people to emotionally blackmail him. Relatedly, he’s also a good lier.
-He controls the element of flower. While this is unavailable to him in Route 29, he does have a thoroughly impressive amount of knowledge about not only the various uses for flowers and plants but also the hidden language of flowers.
-He’s patient. He doesn’t mind if it takes a while for his plans to come to fruition, provide that come to fruition they do. He knows the value of silence and of biding his time.
-As a result of his being a Nobody, he’s not only unusually strong-willed, but also more resilient to (most) physical attacks, should anyone feel so inclined.
~Weaknesses~
-He’s power-hungry. Oh, he might bide his time, should he believe it best to do so, but in the end he’s going to make a grab for that power. Especially should it happen to further his goals with regards to the Organization/regaining his heart.
-...He’s heartless. Quite literally, as a matter of fact. As a result he can’t feel such things as empathy, or care about other people’s feelings, no matter how he might try it.
-Related to the above, he has absolutely no qualms about being a thorough and utter bastard, which might very well come back to bite him some day, especially given his habit of lying pretty much whenever it suits him.y
-As a being of the darkness, light-element attacks do increased damage. It’s not likely to come up much, but there you have it.
