[ Yeah, I know, you guys just saw this chick yesterday. |D; I forgot I'd need to post for Christmas, or I wouldn't have done that. My bad~

Anyway, Quistis looks vaguely concerned. ]

When I woke up this morning, this was tucked into the bed beside me.

[ She holds up an egg, currently wrapped in a towel. ]I'm not sure what kind of egg it is, but ( Read more... )

I got the same one.

[ The camera turns to show two eggs, nestled side-by-side: a common Growlithe egg, and the mystery blue and black egg. ]

Any clues on what's inside?

Not the slightest. [ She looks a little rueful. ] I suppose we'll find out together, unless one of us proves to be a better caretaker than the other.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. They're easy to take care of.

[ At least, Aerith makes it look easy. A pause. ]

Merry Christmas, Quistis.

Any plans?

Not really. I'm working today, because I had no other plans; King and Aero will be out delivering presents, so I won't be training, either. I'll probably just find a spot in front of the fire with some hot cocoa.

No, this is all completely new to me. The traditions, the folklore... it seems like fun, though.

[ I realized I forgot to mention that Quistis is also getting thick-ass socks for Christmas, courtesy of Mr. Prepared over here. Mostly it's just Skarmory's excuse to intercept King, ffff. ]

It...is. [ He sounds almost hesitant to admit it. ] It's a holiday that celebrates togetherness, so it's nice to be around friends and family. [ The rest is just a bonus, really. ]

[ jkfdlsag, it's a good thing King probably delivered Squall's present before Leon's, or it wouldn't get to him until Boxing Day, if he was lucky. :| I'm sure King and Skarmory wound up detouring a little. ]

[ Her smile is a little rueful, but she doesn't seem unhappy so much as wistful. ] That was the impression I got. We didn't have any holidays quite like it back home.

We do. Celebrations of the fortune of the past year, wishes for luck and prosperity in the coming year. Some people present offerings to our deity, Hyne.

Hyne?

[ Blame Disney, but Radiant Garden is pretty much religion-less! So Leon is curious about this. ]

Hyne, the creator of mankind and the father of all sorceresses. The legend, at any rate, says that the sorceresses of our world today were created by Hyne's magic taking refuge in the bodies of women.

[ Well, that sounds... odd when you say it out loud. ]

It's become a quintessential part of SeeD, since the junction system was created. [ She considers. ]

Before the junction system, ordinary people couldn't wield magic at all - only sorceresses, the so-called 'descendants of Hyne.' The junction system has been revolutionary; magic is no longer an exclusive ability, even if a sorceress has magic more powerful than any normal human can harness.
