Oh, you got here all right? That's good to hear. Where are you right now?

Just a little chilled; no lasting damage. I'm about to go to lunch with a friend, and then I'll be checking in at the inn later. I haven't decided if I'd rather explore the city or stay in, tonight.

Are you willing to spare a few minutes? It'll probably be a long time before we get the chance to meet in person again.

Well, I haven't met up with him yet, so I do have a few minutes. I'm outside the Pokémon Center.

Are you leaving Violet soon?

All right, I'll meet you there. I'm not too far away.

Yeah, my friend and I are planning to leave this afternoon. Looking at the radar, we should be able to get to Goldenrod just as the next wave of snow begins to fall.

Best of luck with that. The snow's still pretty deep out there; it can be tough going. Will you be going the whole way on foot?

[ By now, she's settled onto a bench outside the Center, not quite huddled, since it's still cold as hell out. ]

We probably won't spend the entire time on foot -- I have four Flying-type Pokémon that could carry us short distances. I've also got a bike, but it won't do any good in this weather.

...All right, I'm close. We'll continue talking when I get there.

[And about a minute later, there he is, walking toward the bench.]

It's good to finally meet you in person.

[ She stands when he approaches, smiling, and moves to shake his hand. ]

I'm glad we got a chance to meet before you took off. It's too bad you'll be leaving so soon, but I suppose it's best to get out there before the weather gets ugly again.

[Athrun accepts the handshake.]

Yeah, that's my line of thought. Most of my friends are in Goldenrod, and I'd like to be able to spend the holidays with them. My traveling partner feels the same way.

[ She settles back on the bench, leaving room for him and gesturing to the space beside her. ]

Personally, I've had enough travel to last me for a while. I'll be staying here through the holidays, I think; anyone I might have wanted to spend the holidays with is too far away for either of us to make the trip in time, in this weather.

[Athrun takes the offer and sits down.]

I can't say I blame you. Once I get to Goldenrod, I'm not going to want to go anywhere myself for a while. Which is just as well, since it sounds like we're going to get one hell of a snowstorm.

[ She makes a small, mournful noise. ]

I'm not looking forward to more snow. It's going to make training a lot harder. [ Suddenly: ] Say - what can you tell me about the Violet City gym leader?

Reply

[Action] shieldofjustice December 13 2010, 00:16:50 UTC
His name is Falkner, and he uses nothing but bird Pokémon. If you want an edge over him, try to pick up a Pokémon that learns some Electric, Ice, or Rock-type attacks.

He's also the weakest of the gym leaders so far, but that doesn't mean he's weak. I had to train for at least a month in order to get strong enough to challenge him.

[ She looks contemplative and a little sly. ] Electric, Ice and Rock? I'll remember that.

I hope it won't take me a month, but the last time I jumped the gun on something like that, I ate my words. [ She laughs. ] As of now, though, I don't plan on leaving Violet without a Zephyr Badge.

I'd say the best place to train would be on Route 32, south of Violet City. Not only are the Pokémon there slightly stronger than those on Route 31, you can also catch an Electric-type there.

That's my plan, once the weather warms up a little bit. Or, well, at least once I warm up a little bit.

[ She looks thoughtful. ] You said you have four Flying-types? Are they all different Pokémon?
