[Anyone watching, either on the pokegear or in New Bark Town might notice a very, very annoyed pinkish-haired young woman emerge from a house. She could seriously chew steel and spit nails.] I hope I'm using this thing right...
...Does anyone know why there is a- a-- pod person claiming to be my mother here? Am I the only sane one here?If you can'

An' y'might as well check sanity at the door... an'logic... they don't really live here.
As for th'bird, that's your starter - an' gonna be your best buddy here as soon as y'get out on th'road an'start gettin' mauled by purple rats.

At least it's not that big of a change from what I've gotten used to.
Oh? There are more monsters out there? [Ritz is looking at the bird with interest.]

[As the white and blue squirrel that was in his jacket scrambles up to his shoulder to peer at the call, a shiny piece of gravel in its front paws-]
Pachi!
Th'wild ones'll ambush you every three steps in some places.

At least I'm used to monsters. [That's a fairly confident smile on her face.]

[He does glance to the side to check and make sure Momo's newest find isn't something valuable, and seems slightly relieved that the squirrel's proudly holding up a pebble.] This's Momo - hatched from an egg I found a couple weeks ago. [He reaches up with one hand to scratch the squirrel's chin and cheek with one finger, almost prepared for the slight wince when there's a visible static arc.] A lot of'em have funny powers, so even the silly lookin' ones have somethin'.

I'm guessing by the music that this is supposed to be something like a video game? It sounds like video game background music.

Yeah, it's ... a lot like a kid's game back where'm from - follows 'bout the same logic too...
You're...
Takin' that awful well.

'm in a kid's video game where someone forgot t'turn off th'background music, in a world where half of th'people are all creepy an'not-there-upstairs, relyin' on a fire-breathin' hellhound, an electric squirrel, an'...THIS... [He picks up the Smoochum that was sitting next to him, holding Yuki up in camera's view for self-defense, an' I'm 'bout to be gettin' around by usin' a giant dragonfly as a livin' hang-glider.
An' you just acted like it was normal.
So yanno, 'm not sure y'could surprise me now.

So basically y've been though somethin' similar...
Y'don't think whatever caused that'n'this might be...?

Yeah. I'm not sure what could have caused this at all, though. I just got here.

If y've got th'bag that was left out near you, there's some useful stuff in there, an'a book that goes over a lot of th'basics. Most of th'people here 'sides the ... weird... local ... people're pretty decent...
'sides yanno, the ones that think it's funny t'sic swarms'f hostile bugs on everybody.

That sounds like it has a history.

This place might follow a lot'f video game logic, but it's still real in a lot'f ways. [He holds up his hands more clearly - while it's not as impressive as two weeks ago, there's still this nice pattern of bandages from his wrists and hands down his forearms.]
Th'pokémon are pretty friendly once they're caught, but ... well, someone set somethin' up t'kick a bunch of th'bugs enough that it'd only take an extra nudge t'make'em go after anything an'everything. These're from tryin' t'rehab one of'em. Haven't heard from th'guy who did it since, but even if he's not here anymore, 'm pretty sure he prob'ly wasn't workin' alone.

...[She's not going to say much to that, just get this very special look.] Anyone who could do something like that is horrible.
