[Snow sees her running toward them and his natural reflex is to jump up and get ready to fight. Oh, but wait... He can't fight. Not here. He's gotta let Machop do it.

He glances to the pokemon. Machop doesn't need any more prompting.

The first thing she'll hear (from somewhere vaguely off to the left of the path) is:] Machop, distract it! [Which, since Machop only has one move that does any actual damage, pretty much means Low Kick it into oblivion. While Machop engages the Pidgey, Snow will be jogging up to Kobato and her dog thing.] Hey, you okay?

[ Kobato and Growlithe stare as the Machop enters battle with the Pidget, before they glance at each other and then up to Snow in unison. ]

Y-Yes! ...Snow-san, that is?

Yeah, that's right. And you're Kabato. [It's a question in the form of a statement. He's PRETTY sure, but not absolutely positive. So many new people lately...

He glances at Machop, who's wearing the Pidgey down.]

Hey, does yours want to finish it? I mean... If you fight stuff, then it'll get strong and you won't have to run away.

No, it's Kobato.

[ She's used to her name being mangled, Ioryogi-san calls her Dobato all the time. Worriedly, she asks, ]

Oh man, I was close though. Sorry about that.

[At her worry, he glances at the girl, then calls to Machop:] Machop, let up. But don't let it take off! [Machop doesn't seem so pleased with this--he's a bit roughed up, and he clearly wants to just get it over with--but he complies.

Now Snow turns to Kobato.] You've got one of those Pokedex things, right? Find your dog thing in there.

[ Kobato takes out the device, glancing at it and then looks through the list, finding the filled Growlithe at #58. ]

[He reaches out and pushes the same button he'd pushed to learn Machop's moves.

The pokedex rattles off something about Bite and Roar. ( Looked it up for you. >_>; )]

See? Those are the two attack things he can do right now. So you've just... gotta point him at the Pidgey and tell him to do one of 'em, and he'll have it beat in no time.

[ Kobato blinks at the pokedex and then looks up at Growlithe and Pidgey. Bite sounded painful and Roar was... ]

Um, um...! Growlithe, use Roar!

[ Growlithe lets out a loud roar, which sends Pidgey flying in the other direction very quickly. ]

Huh...?

Huh. I guess Roar just... scares it off. [Machop, who's approaching now, does not look amused. More like... 'at least you could've let me level from it'.]

[ Growlithe barks happily since he followed orders. Kobato, however, notices that look on Machop's face. ]

Is something wrong, um... Machop-san?

Nah, he just doesn't like me, is all. [A grin. Machop gives up on the conversation and wanders over to dig through Snow's bag.]

Is it because Machop-san still feels hurt from being abandoned?

Abandoned?

Yeah, Growlithe-san was abandoned. That's why he's here with me.

[ Growlithe barks again, happily. If pokemon could translate, it would be Growlithe denying it but thinks it's funny all the same. ]

Huh. I... don't know, actually. We don't exactly talk. [His eyes are on Machop over eating the food, but he's not gonna stop him. Eh, so they're a little short. They'll find a town soon.]
