Okay, new rule: I must spend equal time writing fanfic and original fiction. This is in no way due to the fact that I have suddenly become determined that I can be a professional writer, but rather due to the fact that I have put myself in a position where I have to.
I referred earlier to the Course List of Inspiration. This exists because I made a decision this year, my final year of college - to do everything that scares the crap out of me. And most of this has to do with writing, so I am taking three writing classes: a fiction writing class, a playwriting/creative process/anything I want to write class, and a song writing class. Yes, I said songwriting. About time I put my damn family background to work for me.
As a result, I have to write. A lot. And it's terrifying. But I'm going to do it. And I must start by convincing myself that every idea I have doesn't suck. And then to convince myself to be okay with it, even when it sucks.
I'm also taking a Comedy Workshop class (improv and stand up), which is frightening as hell. And it tears you to shreds regularly, twice a week.
And then of course, I get the Class of My Dreams with my favorite Art History professor, who is co-teaching with the best Religion professor ever (who, incidentally, looks like Moses) to create one of the most fantastic courses this country has to offer: Christianty in the Roman Empire. Of course, these two are incapable of focusing on one narrow vector when they teach (it's like watching two little boys, they both get so excited when they lecture), so we are branching out all over the place, to every culture imaginable. It's never been more exciting to hear the Bible read out loud. XD
I love my school.
Also, that show I did sophmore year? The karaoke murder mystery? Well, our lovely director and script translator/choreographer/producer have decided to workshop the show so that producers can see it. They want to see if they can get the show picked up by an off-off Broadway theatre company, or the like. So we're doing it again. In the city. Doing a show in the city. Which is playing merry havoc with my schedule, but it's worth it to be doing a show in the city.
I convinced Kelsey to try out, so now she's in it; we lost some of our old cast members, so they had to do some recasting. So basically, we're already having a blast. However, we just got back from rehearsal in Brooklyn. So I am tired. Very tired. This month is going to be insanity. Wish us luck and various broken limbs.
